Anyone Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on B7

Has anyone used Michelin Pilot Sport 3 on therir RS4 B7?

washed the car this morning and the front wheels had some lock on, saw the middle to inside of the tyres was getting to the wear marks on the Pirelli P Zero Rosso currently

so reckon a full set of boots is needed before the autumn.

I've used Michelin PS2 & PS3 on other cars with success so wondered if they suit the RS4

Q. Do I stick with the Pirelli or go with Michelin PS3 (same price circa 800+for4) or something else? secret santas?
Not bothered about ultimate summer grip, only grip when its at a premium in the darker months

In the wet I found the Pirellis to be total sh*t compared to PS2s, and from reports on here the PS3 (and Super Sport) are even better.

Don't waste a single 1p on more Pirellis.

Agree with PD Pirellis are terrible, i run Vreds secret santas and found them to be a really good budget tyre in the wet and dry,
but if you can stretch to the Michelins i'd go for them.

What do you have on yours? Michelin or Pirellis?

Thanks for replies i'll certainly forget the Pzeros, but there seems to be 4 different versions is you include the rosso and Direzionale ...the Michelin have good user feedback, but then again Vreds are £50/corner less..and quiet..but suggested rating say low(er) wet grip

interesting looking at the new comparison/rating figures for 255/35R19Y

MICHELIN Pilot Sport 3 (£209) Fuel eff E Wet grip A Noize 71db ...less £80 for 4 offer
MICHELIN Pilot Sport 2 (£202) Fuel eff E Wet grip A Noize 70db

Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (151) Fuel Eff.: E Wet Grip: C Noise: 67dB

Conti sport contact 3 (£195) Fuel eff F Wet grip B Noize 74db

Pirelli P Zero Rosso (£204) Fuel eff E Wet grip B Noize 73db
Pirelli P Zero (£205) Fuel eff E Wet grip A Noize 73db

Prob just see what the local garage can do a best deal on first.

I was going to swap the B7 for a B8. Then wife made me see sense as it has only done 27k miles so we may as well keep it a while longer, let somebody else take the hit on a new one. She fancies a new GTImk7 or a S3 which makes sense as the Mk5 has done 63k

+1, supersports are the best tyre i have ever used.
i think the ps3 might have slightly better wet weather grip though.

PS3 or SS which I hadn't considered

I'll see what the local tyre place I've used for 20+ years can do, they are usually pretty competitive and take good care

thanks for all the replies, its that sort of accumulative knowledge that makes RS246 a great place

The best tire used to be the pilot sport 2

The replacement for that is actually the pilot super sport, not the ps3.

Ao...i would recommend the pilot super sport. I bought some last year and they're excellent. Performance is excellent all around, they're very quiet, and they are very light. Can't be beaten.

I paid roughly £1000 (but here in Canada it was $1550 CAD) for them a year ago but apparently now they're only about £850not sure in price over there but I assume they're similarly reasonable on a relative basis. PS2 sets for the rs4 used be about 10-20%more than that.

Just changed my tyres from ps2 s to super sports...the ps2s were a great tyre, too early to comment on the super sports but I have no reason to think they will be any different to the ps2s...

I've had:
- the PIrellis as OE fit - was glad they only lasted 9k miles as they were awful
- PS2s - lasted much better and gave great grip and handling
- Goodyear Assymetrics as 275/30 - not quite on a par with the PS2s for life, but great rim protection
- Sessantas - easily the longest life but have a soft and squirmy feel, much better than the Pirellis but not a touch on the Michelins or Goodyears for ultimate confidence

I want to try either the SS (if I can get them at a sensible price) or the PS3 next time, but the Sessantas just seem to last forever!

not much love for the Pirelli's wonder why Audi chose them as the OE fit?

Anyway local garage can do a sensible deal on Ps3 so they will be on fairly soon, the current worn PZeros tramline dreadfully and on one particular island half way to work can understeer quite alarmingly at speeds the GTI wouldn't blink at.
maybe get the alignment checked again, but the front shocks & a hub carrier were replaced last Dec under warranty, so I'm hoping its fairly true. tyres have even wear
