Hi guys, new on here and hopefully going to be getting a B7 RS4 Avant in the next couple of weeks.

I test drove a really nice Daytona example at Nick Johnson a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately went on holiday and its now sold!

Anyhow, on the test drive I noticed how muted the exhaust was so I've been looking into options. My question is- do any of the non res h-pipes that replace the silencers fit the standard backbox? It looks like the Milltek and Surpersrpint ones only fit their respective full systems from what I can tell.

Any help would be great.

The standard exhaust is one piece system from the cat back. This means that to change anything other than a complete cat back system you will need to cut up the original exhaust and hope they run a similar path or will need to fabricate a piece to join the 2 up. This is why no-one sells a back box but rather all sold as cat-back systems. Having said that Tubi only make a back box so this would need the OEM exhaust cut to mate or alternatively I bought a Milltek H-pipe and centre section and cut the Tubi to mate the 2 'half' systems together.
The H-pipes or X-pipes are not normally resonated. It is the bit further back (which Milltek call the centre section) that normally has a silencer or not (resonated or non-resonated).

There are lot of threads on here regarding exhaust options, and very recently too so have a lok through.
Amongst the options are full replacement, sports cats, gutting of pre-cats, deleting centre resonator or almost any combination there-of.

Disconnecting the exhaust flaps on the standard exhaust is a quick and free mod that improves the sound quite a bit! That could tie you over until you decide what exhaust set up to go. I'm in the same boat, best thing is to get to a meet and politely ask for some rides in some fellow forum member's cars to see what suits you best.
