Bird strike- wing mirror question

My wing mirror made high speed contact with a fat pigeon this morning. It dislodged the mirror glass from the housing and the housing from the door. The mirror glass was only held on by 2 spade terminals and wires on the back. It seems that the glass has a heater element and power supply but my car does not have heated mirrors AFAIK.
Are the mirrors with elements standard even if the option isn't installed?
All went back together OK, nothing broken.

i thought heated door mirrors are standard on all rs4's, you turn them on when you press the rear screen demist button?.

Thanks- i didn't know that. I thought they were an option and shown by a symbol at the middle position of the control knob.

I thought I had heated side mirrors but I have no symbol (just an 'I') at the middle. Seems to clear quickly enough, maybe that's just my imagination...

And if in doubt, turn the rear screen on and feel the mirror glass - it gets noticeably warmer...

Just did that this morning. You're all correct. They are heated and they do get warm to the touch. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Thanks all.
