No Bluetooth
So I have found an RS4, finally.
Was looking for an avant but gave up and have gone for a black saloon with black optics. My wife has an A6 allroad so the avant wasn't essential.
It's in great condition but has no Bluetooth phone prep.
I don't use the phone much but Bluetooth would be good. The stealer says OEM will be about £1500 to retro fit or they do another for £550.
Any suggestions?
What are people talking about when they say they are switching to an A3 sat nav system. Is it really worth it?
How is it done and how much is it? Would a stealer be able to do it because I wouldn't know where to start.
I pick it up on Saturday.
I'm coming from an R35 GTR which I still miss but was too much of a pain to service in Edinburgh every 6 months. Plus it was getting too difficult to ferry my kids about in it.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: No Bluetooth
OEM Bluetooth is NOT that much to retrofit
you can get it done professionally (as I have had done) for about £400 ish and retain all the integration with the sat nav the DIS etc.
thats the bluetooth only (arguably all you need) - not armrest or phoneprep or cradle which would push the price towards £1500 if you got all that done..
the A3 sat nav you refer to is the newer version of the one fitted in the RS4 - higher res screen, can take 32gb sd cards, can have decent ipod interface and is a bit quicker and more up to date but will cost you about £800 or so for a brand new one I believe...
if you just want the convenience of bluetooth, speak to someone like www.vwcruise.com and they will come out and fit it very quickly and neatly and thats job done.

Re: No Bluetooth
I've had a look at vwcruise. They look great but I am based in the north of Scotland.
Re: No Bluetooth
ah thats a pain then - I guess you could check if they cover your area (ever) or not - failing that there will be someone else in the area who can do it at that sort of cost...

Re: No Bluetooth
If you get the module, harness and microphone from e.g. Kufatec it's not that complicated to fit the Bluetooth yourself. See http://www.kufatec.de/shop/en/Audi/A4-B ... tooth-Only
I fitted it myself within a month of getting my RS4 back in July 2006, all told it only took about 1 1/2 hours - but you do need VCDS to recode the RNS-E & the BT module, and to clear the inevitable fault codes.

Re: No Bluetooth
Thanks for the info guys.
I was on the phone to vwcruise who are now Hazzy Dayz. They have an OEM one that will integrate like factory fit.
It is less than £400. I'm going to get that and they have someone in Glasgow that can fit it. I am Glasgow next week so hope to get it fitted then. I'm trying to resist the RNS-E 3G sat nav and I-pod connection option. I really don't use sat nav that much and the 6 CD changer should be adequate for my needs. Buying 6 CD's would be cheaper. They do an alpine I-pod connection but I'm struggling to justify the extra few hundred for that.
Roll on Saturday.
