Been away for a bit 'cos I went to see the sawbones about a nothing and ended up, after a referral to the local ENT dept, having ear surgery to remove a long standing (not that i was aware of it) infection in the bones around my ear.

Result is that I'm fairly fit again now but have 75% hearing loss on the left side......Bit of a bu99er really because I had similar surgery on the other side about 20 years ago and only had 50% hearing left in that one, so the world is now a very peaceful place as far as i'm concerned.

One snag.......I took the RS out for the first time since the op and first time I went for it clouted the limiter hard 'cos I couldn't bloody hear the engine. After 10mins of trying to get the measure of predicting the revs I gave up and had to chill out and bimble along, all unsatisfied. ARSE!

I suspect that the exhaust may very well be heading for surgery soon (Center section extraction perhaps?) I wonder if the old bill will accept it as a disability modification when they tug me?

Rob, sorry to hear (apologies for the bad pun) about the result of the op. did make me laugh though. You obviously need one of those awful exhausts that drone really badly so you can "feel" the rumble.

You never know it might just be ear wax, eight straight pipes will deal with that

Rob, when I was 14 I had a very similar thing done, I was told that I was one of the first people to have surgery where they took out my ear drum and the bones around it and then made me a new one from skin off my bonce. Amazingly I to am down to 75% hearing on that side as well, but I do not suffer the same problem of not being able to hear the V8 rumble, this is as I have tinitus which means I hear what is akin to a jet engine in my head everywhere I go..... So basically I have a Audi jet fighter.... admittedly I also had a citron AX 1.4 jet fighter for a first car and a jet fighter XR2 after that.
