Auto bootlid stopped working

H guys, hoping someone can help me out here. The auto bootlid just stopped working for no reason. Key fob and door switch have no effect. At the same time the dash is telling me the 2 rear fog lights and number plate bulb have gone. I checked all the fuses and nothing to report so guessing there is some link between them all that I am missing.

Boot lid release is fuse 38 and fog lights (doesn't say front or rear) is fuse 19 and both are fine. Front fogs work ok as well so if they share the fuse it is no the fuse.

All bulbs checked and are fine so is there another fuse box somewhere? The panel on the fuse box mentions that there are other fuses in an auxiliary fuse box but no idea where that is.

Perfect timing too as tax due this month and just shelled out £370 having the wheels powdered coated and on top of that the oil light just came on !

Suggestions welcome

Check the looms going to the bootlid. Sounds like a broken wire. Quite common on these I believe.

A broken wire might affect one of the above but for every finction in the bootlid to stop working it sounds like every wire to the lid has broken or, more likely, a plug has come loose. I'm guessing for it to fail in this way there must be a multiplug somewhere that needs to be reconnected. Anybody confirm how they are connected?

Also by auto bootlid I assume you mean the lock rather than the auto lift? If you press the button on the boot does anything happen?

Thanks for the replies I will try pulling wires tomorrow. To confirm, I can only open the boot with the key so sounds like a multi plug of some kind. Now to find it.....

So with all the doors unlocked (not just the drivers one), the button on the bootlid itself doesn't open the boot either? If that is the case then sounds like what I said earlier. If this works then there must be power getting to the bootlid still.

Correct, bootlid handle does not work at all. Have to put the key in the lock to open the boot

Defo sounds like a multiplug worked loose then (assuming there is one in there somewhere).

Had the same thing on mine, boot lid switch or keyforb dont work also all the lights on the boot ie number plate, fogs complain and beep all the time on the DIS.

Issue was due to cracked wire. Its common and you dont need to replace the entire wiring harness. The side of the boot if you open you can take the cover out you see the wires. Just need to either fix or replace. Depends on where you take it.

The low oil light is the car's way of telling you that

1. You are down a whole quart or so of oil
2. You should start checking your oil more regularly (than never) and topping up before you are down a whole quart of oil

All sorted, broken wire repaired for £75 so adding that to the wheel refurb, car tax, litre of oil from halfords and 10 litres from Opie an altogether expensive month !
