GoPro 3 VS RS4

A very short video I made very quickly this afternoon. It's only just over a minute. Don't forget to select HD. The start is just to highlight the glorious sound of these beasts we own.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCya7r9a ... e=youtu.be

I had intended to use these shots within a corporate promo film I was making so there is no continuity or narrative, it's just a collection of rough test shots.

However the RS4 is proving a little too expensive to run and with another child on the way it's going to have to go.
I thought I'd very quickly chuck the GoPro test rushes together instead of deleting them.

saying that, the film will still need to be made so if there are any willing volunteers and cars?...... :bigblink:

The film kit I usually use is a bit more impressive than a GoPro so if anyones looking for a free film involving their car let me know. I'm gutted I won't be able to do it with my RS4 :( I was waiting for some good weather but it just never came.

Cheers
Mark

Thanks Guys, like i say the stuff I shoot is usually a bit more impressive but it would be a shame to just delete the shots.

I'm trying to break out of TV and into the corporate world and hopefully involve cars into that. However the RS4 is a luxury I can't afford any longer so I'll have to use other peoples cars instead! ;-)

Adrian - That would be great as I'm hoping to add on some 'how it's made' stuff on the end. Thanks

Rick - I use Avid editing software so just import it straight in.

Daytona - The music is Thunderstruck by AC/DC and Ill manors by Plan B.

That road looks amazing for a proper drive, all the roads like that up here are full of caravans and tractors! :(

Out of curiosity, why the rs4 having to go due to another child?

Yes guys you're all right. The road is the one from Hythe to Lyndhurst via Beaulieu road. It's also the Beaulieu to Brockenhurst road. All in the New forest.

The roads are great but you have to pick your times as they are extremely busy during the holidays and in rush hour. Also they are all 40mph and covered in various animals. Fine for filming as you make it look fast without breaking the speed limit but not so much fun for just driving. I know it looks like it but none of that I shot was done at over 40. (I'm not just saying that to protect myself!) The sound I recorded elsewhere.

The Hero 3 black edition is awesome! Amazing for such a small camera. You can also use the iphone to control it which is handy for lining the shot up.
For almost everything else I'll use my Canon 5d Mk3 or my old Canon 550d if I need to mount it to the car.

I use Avid Media Composer 6 to edit. It's the Broadcasting standard editing software used for pretty much all tv and film. I think it's about £1500 for the software. I then use various things for the colour grade.

Adsgreen - Hi mate - The reason isn't practicality but money as we need to decorate two rooms in the house and I'm also doing a lot more miles for work and at 17mpg the cost is killing me. I'm gutted though as I've had 15 cars in 15 years and this is easily the best by a long shot.

Cheers
Mark

Good looking video, really liked the switch to the underside as well.

If you need any footage using a B7 Cabriolet, I'm your man. I live in Kent, but can travel.... :nogarors4: :jump_clap:
