Congrats on the new car!

And FON :beerchug:

300 miles to a tank. You are not driving it correctly. When driven correctly, you should be getting 200 miles or less to the tank!!

Seriously I never once got near 300 to the tank! I think 250 was the max I got.

have never actually done a milage to the tank calc (to scared to) - but normally when i fill up the DIS does say 300 miles range.

And i do drive it like its supposed to be driven.

So I'm about on par then.... since I only got 260 miles and that was careful (read 'busy') motorway driving.

Deffo need a night job!

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, 300 miles? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

With a load of dull motorway maybe otherwise think closer to 200

The range indicated by the computer might as well be ignored cos it's a lying b*stard

There's no calcuation involved, I just reset the counter when I fill up. I know that any point between 150 and 200 miles I'm gonna run dry so need to plan a trip to the petrol station. If I don't plan I might end up with some overpriced 97RON crap.

Mine says 300 miles when I fill up too, but it soon chnages its mind and htose numbers drop quicker than the miles g oup!

Newbie Owner - Newbie Question...

Post by bravoit » Thu Feb 28, 2013 12:24 pm

200 if you nurse it round town, but that's almost impossible. Good thing is though that I tend to get low 20's mpg on the motorway no matter if I do 70 or above. Therefore at higher speeds I think it's good considering the engine size. I had a 535d that would only do late 20's mpg at high motorway speeds and that was diesel?

200 if you're mostly city or are having lots of fun
250 is normal if mixed city/highway
300 if you're almost all highway
350 if you nurse it on the highway at 70 mph and never give it the beans

That's what I've noticed.

If anyone can get 350 out of a tank they should trade it in for a 2.0tdi and save their money.

on the highway with cruise at ~72 mph (65 speed limit) I get 27+ mpg (US gallons), close to 400 when the light comes on
not sure you should be telling people how to spend THEIR money
it's a CAR, an everyday 4 door grocery getter, not an F1 car nor even a Ferrai, lol
when daily commuting 5 miles to work in town I get ~250/tank, oil never gets hot, probably open loop for most of the time

went to the city on Wed, 120 mile roundtrip, avg 26 with 80% highway, 10% rural, 10% city

there is no need to drive the car 24x7 like it is stolen

I drive 20-30 miles 7 day a week, i get anywhere from 13-16mpg depending on how I'm driving(town/country lanes). Average 180-199 to a tank.

I'm young though so you already know my driving style lol

I have drove it once for a week hunting for mpg on a daily commute and got 18mpg average, but i agree with Mikefish money would be wiser spent on other things than a barely flash, expensive to maintain, boring car(if you drive it 350mpg)

Arthur over here a V8 isn't an ever day shopping car lol
