Hi all, first post on this forum!
I've enjoyed reading up on the Rs4 and after some thought the wife fancies one as her new daily drive !

Theres a few cars we have seen advertised at various places and have narrowed it down to two which we will be looking at over the weekend.

The first is this one

one owner,low miles,full audi sh and one year audi warranty with the sale. I know its a bit dearer than some,but with the warranty its piece of mind motoring for a year.

A bit cheaper,07 reg ,but more miles. They will probably give more for our part exchange than a main dealer.

Whats peoples thoughts.?
This will be our first performance audi so we have no idea on real world servicing costs,spare parts prices and the dreaded fuel consumption
The wife travels 2miles to work everyday so hopefully the fuel wont be too much of a problem,cant be any worse than my 380bhp/370ftlb lancer evo which she sometimes uses to go to work.That does half a tank in 3 days on her commute!!
Money is not an issue for us but we dont want to spend £23k on a car only to need new brakes,tyres and suspension after a couple of months!

I think by the looks of both of them they are the normal silver and not Avus Silver. If they are the normal silver then resale will be an issue as it does not seem to sell on very well. If they are Avus silver then it wont be as bad. Most people want Phantom black, Daytonna Grey or Sprint Blue.
Other than that they seem okay.
Travelling 2 miles to work everyday is not going to be brilliant for a 4.2ltr V8. It will barely get warm and they already suffer from carbon build up so not sure if this is going to help.

The Audi dealer one has no Sat Nav (or tech pack). This would affect the resale value.

Personally, I would not buy one with an Audi Warranty.

+1 - 2 miles a day will kill it and cost a fortune in fuel.
You'd be lucky to average 10mpg.

Can't the wife get a bike or something?

I bought a car through Harrogate Audi and they were awful. The car had loads of issues that I had to get sorted through Audi uk, and once the car had left their forecourt they wanted nothing else to do with it
This is just my experience and it may be isolated, but I wouldn't deal with them ever again

49k miles is still low - it's a 6 year old car after all. If you're anticipating relatively short daily commutes, then surely you're better off looking at well maintained higher mileage cars anyway? - they'd cost you less up front, then over a year or so the average annual mileage would improve because you're using it less.

Just remember to give it a workout on the weekend to get everything warmed up and clear the cobwebs out of the inlet manifold...

Is it just me or is the bonnet gap a bit big on the Audio one ?

When viewing check out the usual thimgs:

1) DRC.
2) Brakes.
3) Oil Pipes.
4) Vac leaks.
5) Clutch.

deffo a bike for the wife! car is at its worst consumption at cold it will be on par with the evo im sure from experience! they are good once warm and on a run though. Rest has been covered thousands of times in the last 8 months i have been on here so a quick flick back through the pages will tell you what you need to know and look for!

I'm thinking about these short journeys to work like most have mentioned,its sadly not going to do the car any good.its literally a 10min drive.
At the weekend it would have its legs stretched as we travel about clay shooting but the week commute is going to kill it.

Hmm,not to happy on the experience that another user had at harrogate.They have been persistent asking us for a 1k refundable deposit on a car we haven't even seen!
We are keen but arnt in any hurry whatsoever on buying one,and as said above by many members it might not be the right car for us which is a shame.

Re the bike....I'll let you tell her that! Lol
