Im after some advice on some rear seat child protection devices, coming from 2 angles here;

1) Devices that protect the child.
- Any child seats that fit especially well in the rear of a B7 RS4?

2) Devices that protect the rear seats from the children!
- I was thinking of putting a rear seat cover on, I know it is going to look ugly, but itll mostly be covered by the aforementioned car seats, and the parts that arent protected by that will likely have biscuit crumbs on them! Im hoping here that in a couple of years when my children have stopped causing a total mess of everything ill still have good quality rear seats under the cover!
- Any links to recommend covers greatly appreciated.
- Also any links to recommended floor matts appreciated.

I dont have a seat cover, I just use a seat protector I bought from Hlafords years ago for about £20. it just goes under the bottom of the seat and behind the back bit. You can't see it when the child seat is in.

You'll have trouble finding decent car mats as most companies that made them got in trouble with Audi for reporducing the RS4 logo witohut permission. There are some on Ebay that are very well priced (about £40-50). The quality of the mat is quite good (very good for the price) but the logo is a sewn on one.

We've got the maxi-cosi pebble child seat and the base that works with that seat and the one for the next age group up (don't know what it's called) - had it in for nearly a year and it doesn't appear to have done anything permanent to the seat

I use this and it works well is quite stiff so can't see the baby seat leaving indents.

- Maxi-Cosi Pebble Seat
- Maxi-Cosi Famly Fix ISOFIX base
- Price Lionheart 2- part seat saver

All seems to work well.

Another question to add to this, which seat do you place the kids in? - the general recommendation is centre rear seat for optimum safety however I don't think the RS4 has central ISOFIX.

Recaro Youngsport seats fit exceptionally well into the mouldings in the RS4 rear bench without the need for IsoFix. They are Class I-III (6mths to 12 years) and have best in class side impact protection bolsters. For these I used Sunshine Kids anti-slip mats which protected the leather and stopped marking of the rear bench. As I had comfort front seats they also fitted oin the front seat well, not sure how they would fit in the buckets but can't see it being an issue. Also added bonus they are Recaros for your Recaro seats! I used these for 5 years with zero issues. Also the anti slip mats are an exact fit under/behind the seats so not obtrusive.

I may have my two Recaro Youngsports in black / silver for sale having sold my RS4 with the mats pending another forum member getting back to me about whether they want to buy them. See the classifieds and PM if you are interested.

Maxi-cosi Family fix base - that's the one I couldn't remember, would highly recommend (especially after seeing alternatives friends have got, much more hassle) - my wife found a cracking online deal for the seat, base, and some other bits thrown in on a dodgy looking website then took details to John Lewis who matched it on the spot.

Can also recommend the mirrors you can get to hang over the backseat head rest facing the child (backward facing car seat to start off) so you can see them in your rear view mirror, but you want one where you can adjust the mirror angle (try ebay) rather than the crap one from halfords I bought first that hangs there in the wrong place.

Mothercare used to make something called a ‘Neat Seat’ this is basically a large shaped thick rubber mat I had mine under a heavy Recaro Start child seat for 2 years, I removed it recently and the leather seat is unmarked and still like new.

That's exactly the setup that we've gone for.

. The Lionheart protector because I've seen it recommended on here.
. The Family Fix Isofix base because it scored very highly in the side impact tests and also because it was perfect fort he Pebble Seat.
. The Pebble seat itself because it fits so many of the different makes of strollers/ travel systems.

JL price-matched for us too. I think it was either kiddicare or kiddisave websites.

None of which is tested yet as we don't get the baby for a few more weeks

Easy. Put the kids in the missus car and say follow me. Job done.

Just bought 2 of these for the back seats. Just make sure you reserve them online and then collect otherwise they are £25.99 in store.

Not sure what age car seat you are looking for but I have a Britax Prince and it fits very well in the rear bench.

ive got a 14mo and a 3yo, so after some seats that are going to last for the next few years for both of them, the Recaro Young Sport's look like the sort of thing i need.

probably lionheart as it sounds cool, looks sturdy and is on amazon so is easy.

I bought the Maxi Cosi "Family Fix" bases for the Rs3 and the Rs4 - one we bought from the place we got our pram and the second I got a lot cheaper from Amazon.

the base lasts for about 3 - 4 years so takes the little diddy seats then the next size up. we've got a "Maxi Cosi Pebble" at the moment as our little one is 6 days old

the family fix thing is an isofix base and beeps to tell you its all docked correctly and locked into position

I found in both cars you had to really push it hard back into the seat back to get the isofix ratchets to lock correctly so in light of that (and i wanted protectors anyway) I bought two Britax Seat Protectors also off Amazon - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005GISU9Y/r ... 05151_dp_1 they are low so don't really show and at the same time protect the back and base of seat.

Fitted our Family Fix & Pebble today, too.
Seems very rigid when the ratchets are given a good shove into the isofix.

Those Britax seat protectors probably look a tad better than the Prince Lionheart one that I bought (it's the upstand bit that looks a good idea on the Britax).

For fcuks sakes, listen to me.... what have I become.
