So, we have had a few cold mornings now and it seems to be causing the RS some issues. (add it to the list) So I get in, stick the key in, fuel pump fires up, clutch down and push the button...... click!! nothing. I then try again and after a few attempts away she goes.
Any ideas??
Cheers
Adam

Starter motor relay on the V8 is a known weak spot. Problem is I think its built into the starter motor which is a pig to access

My s4 is the same, it's the starter sticking, need to replace with a new one, its a pain to do as well

I'm waiting on some warmer weather before I do it, or I can find a garage I can use and will do it myself to save on the labour costs.

I may change the relay first then before investigating the starter motor, any ideas where the starter relay is?
If not ill RTFM!!

If you manage to fix it with that please let me know lol! But I'm sure when mine eventually starts I can hear a noise from the starter solenoid retracting a couple seconds after I have let go of the key...

Hi,
Get this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-TT-A2-A3 ... 337dc5a686
It's the elsawin repair manual - the same that the Audi dealers use. I've got the same and it's brilliant.
Or, like I used to do, you can go to the audi erwin site and get the same information for a charge:
http://erwin.audi.com
Both show all of the workshop information you'll ever need.
Regards, Chris.

I have noticed in this colder weather (and after returning from a 10 day vacation) that when I depress the start button - instead of the instant starter motor - there is now a delay of half to 1 second before the starter kicks in. I had assumed it was battery power related. After a few long drives it seems better - but I still get a tiny delay in the mornings when its still below zero outside.

Don't forget batteries are at something like 40% operating capacity even when fully charged in these temps.
Starting that v8 must be a fair ole job.

I wish it was the battery, but she doesn't even turn just sits there waiting.......... and go, after about 5 pushes of the button!
