This question is a old classic on this forum, some saying it can give you anything up to 80 horses...I and many others believe 25 max...if you are down on power big time it is usually vacuum related...

You can do a vac test using vagcom ... It actuates the manifold runners , air box power flap and exhaust flaps.
You can also blank the vac pipe that is on the left hand side of the engine bay that runs near the bottom of the air box ... If you feel an improvement you could have a faulty power flap , solenoid or vac leak on that part of the system.

Thanks, do you think I have a vac problem they said they tested all the valves IIRC through the diagnostics and it was fine,

Just looked at your other thread, and you got 366....how old is the engine oil? are you running super unleaded? Who done the original re map, ie is it any good? Remember dynos are a guide you could go on half a dozen different ones on the same day and see 100hp difference...

Think a 100hp difference is a bit exaggerated ... Would need some seriously fudged af correction and some bad strapping techniques to get + or - a 100hp !

Carbon clean, Before and after power output?

Mine was clogged up really bad and the solenoid under the air box was cracked open causing a massive vac leak
No power flap working plus exhaust was rattling like a gud en
Faults on both flaps rails throwing EPC and EML lights
Car was way down on power
Since decoked / deflapped / remap / miltek / new air box and vac solenoid I bet I'm almost 100bhp up
Well it certainly feels like it the car goes like **** off a stck now
Gone but not forgotten boohoo !!!

But did you have all of those done at the same time? If you did then there's no way of knowing the effect that each if them was having on power.

+1

Solenoid went in mine a couple of months back, the seat of my pants told me it had lost 1/4 of its power - replaced and running lovely again straight away.

I'm absolutely sure the guys doing the carbon cleaning do a great job, but IMO I'd always apply some common sense checks first before having it done - i.e. does the car show any signs of loss of performance or efficiency? Or at least, enough to bother you?

Hi, I had my 07 cabby tested at AMD Essex earlier this week, best run was 389hp with 296 torque. Car has 42k miles and has never been touched to was well pleased with result...

No need for a de-coke yet. :biggrin3:
