And Joshie - dont make me laugh with statements like :
normally aspirated engines have benefits such as zero lag.
when we all know that normally aspirated engines are just engines with NO BOOST
Not sure I understand where you're coming from entirely Tim. Between shifts in the S4 there was a hesitation - this is simply not present in my M3 nor in the Porsche 996 I tested for a while and frankly lag does detract from the driving experience. Nonetheless, I accept entirely that a turbo engine is infinitely more attractive to many of us (including me) and that the boost (mountains of torque low down the rev range) overcomes the turbo-lag issues which in a 4.2V8 with fast spool-up twin turbos should be minimal anyway.
Regarding your point about staying on topic I agree (shame on me for drifting off topic and metioning brakes when the thread is all about "The New Engine will be... [a twin turbo V8])"
Looking forward to debating all the other potential topics (brakes, suspension, gearshift, weight, bodystyles, colour and optional extras) in due course but I will say that if the new '4 is normally aspirated AND weighs in at 1400Kgs then I'll have my order down straight away. If it's a twin turbo I'll buy two!
