Farewell - its gone.
I can understand people wanting a change to a newer car that has warranty and therefore lower running costs but for me until a better car for me arrives on the market the RS4 stays. The running cost may be a little higher but what price is happiness? I run trucks and believe me running a RS4 is pocket money in comparison. long live the RS4.
A nice car, good luck with the sale.22B wrote:Haha, thanks guys. Well I've just taken the hardest step, -listed the 22B on P'heads, a sad day indeed!

Not all bad though, I'm replacing it with a M400 with just under 500bhp!

IMHO lengster wouldn't need luck to get that if he made the effort to sell it privately, trade in is another storyHowever, good luck getting 29K for a 56 avant.

hmmm thanks for the info, I will ask hazzydayz about this - they state "We use the best quality components available. This includes the Ampire DVBT-200"Ice_Coffee wrote:I have been looking into this myself hazzy is currently supplying an inferior version of the TV for the same price that Kufatec will sell you the Kit with the new improved version of the Digi TV (the 400 instead of the 200) of course with the Kufatec you have to install yourself, but it can't be that hard ?Adam wrote:I bought my RS4 for £51k new 4 years ago, now it is probably worth £30k (black saloon, 18k miles, v high spec and mint).
40% depreciation in 4 years is very good, although a lot to do with my low mileage.
The RS4 was instead of the planned 2nd hand 996TT due to impending fatherhood, and still hanker after a 911. But I have taken the worst of the depreciation hit, the car has been faultess apart from DRC and is cheap to run (apart from fuel and tax).
So this week I decided to keep it and reward myself with some hazzydayz upgrades (digi TV, BT and ipod) and a trip to MRC
Still love the looks, and driving experience and makes financial sense to actually keep this one for a while longer.
So I see there is an Ampire DVBT-400 out, how is this improved?

1) The most important addition is the AFS feature, as you may know TV broadcasts are split into areas, and you point your house aerial at the strongest transmitter antennae for you, depending where you live (or where you travel to) you may pass between 2 or even 3 (including repeater stations) of these transmitter masts.Adam wrote:hmmm thanks for the info, I will ask hazzydayz about this - they state "We use the best quality components available. The AFS feature as I understand it knows what channel your watching (or digital audio you are listening to) and seamlessly hands over to the strongest signal in your area as you move. It saves you from having to re-scan for channels every time you enter a new area.
2) I don't have an Iphone as I don't like them, I do however have an android phone, when connected to USB it shows up as a regular USB removable drive. The useful feature for me on the 400 is it has USB media support, I can plug my phone in, browse my folders and play my music it can also play my videos and show photo's from my phone but I'm not interested in that.
3) the Menu system on the 400 looks less childish
TBH im not really interested in the TV either, I REALLY REALLY want DAB, and I live in London, so I'm taking the chance that between the AFS and the pair of Active diversity antennae, I will get decent digital radio reception.
The video on memory stick I suppose could be useful if you have kids, it might be a hassle free way to keep them occupied on a long journey.
I think RS4's are 'fairly' inexpensive when you look @ other vehicles new & old...
A good B7, say £25K - £30K looks good value - you get alot for your money. I wouldn't pay £70K+ for an RS5 or £45K for an RSTT or RS3.
IMHO it may be quick (but most Turbo's can be chipped), but the RS3 really is what the S3 should have been in the first place...
I'm just thankful I that own one of the 'best' RS's ever made

I am going to run a USB extension lead in with the same cabling that goes in for the tuner box (ie the length of the car interior) I will then have the user end appear in the glove box or the armrest, I am undecided.
BTW, I think this TV tuner goes much closer to the headunit, and may even be mounted behind it, I guess it depends on the length of cabling they provide. From what I can tell, it is only the antennae cabling travels the length of the car.
