Hey guys,
Thought I'd share my first 24 hour RS4 ownership experience with you!
Took delivery of the car from Audi Wakefield yesterday lunchtime.
Started my journey back up north to Aberdeen and about an hour in, I noticed the EPC light on the dash. Because the car was new to me and I just happened to hit the snow coming over the Pennines, I assumed this was one of the numerous acronym titled driver aids so ignored it.
By the time I was north of Carlisle, the EML was also on so I stopped off at the next service station for some fuel and have a squint over the owner’s manual.
Phoned Wakefield Audi to advise of the problem and after getting the go ahead from the service manager, was told I’d be able to continue on my way based on the fact the car was still running well but was advised to get it into Audi Aberdeen the next day.
TBH - the thought of having to U-turn and take it back wasn't all that appealing given that I was a good 3 hours away from them and still had another 4 hours before I got home.
Into Aberdeen Audi this morning explaining what had happened but they can't book the car in until March 9th although the service advisor did ask why Wakefield didn’t suggest phoning RAC roadside when I reported it which got me thinking…….
So when I got home I gave RAC a call. The Tech plugged in his box of tricks and here’s his diagnosis with codes if it means anything to anyone.
He tried to clear the fault a few times but it kept coming back. EPC was continuously on but the EML would clear for a while and eventually return.
He reckons he could probably take the intake flap / manifold to bits for me and try to clean it up but I’d rather Audi do it properly seeing as I’ve owned it less than a day and already there’s a fault code!
