couldnt be more wrong my friend complete opposite in fact
I'm with Robbo66 .... IMHO black optics look SOOOO chav like they just don't suit an Audi, especially not an RS4.

How anyone can think that replacing the chrome/aluminium around the glass with black rubber and a thin silver strip around the front grill turns a car into a halfords jobby is quite beyond me, infact quite the opposite, I think it hides the big gaping 'look at my aggressive halfords mouth' thing by blending in the grill better..all IMHO of course.
To be honest out of anything on the car the most chavvy looking/Halfords thing looking at the car is probably the silver wing mirrors, but I happen to like those too!, so maybe Im just a tad chavvy afterall!

It looks okay on a black car, but optics look daft on all others. I do think this paint everything black has chav roots and i think this is one reason I steered clear. I think the matt alloy trim is more in keeping with the rs4 look. Shinny silver/chrome looks naff on the other audi cars. IMHO you loose the shape of the front with optics but I do quite like the look although I would not like to ditch the window, exhaust and boot trim. I think a black optics grill only would look quite nice whilst retaining the alloy trim elsewhere.
Now Black optics and buckets that really is for chavs. :D

I personally think that looks STUNNING, and black is probably the only colour it suits. All IMHO of course!

I'm certainly not against the optics pack on certain colours but i really can't understand the logic in that it's 'Stealth'. How can you pretend that just because you have a black grill surround and window frames that no one is going to notice you - what, in an RS4  Nah.

If it was meant to be stealth then the RS4 would need to be a different shape as well - just like the stealth bombers. Come on guys, own up. The black is just a different trim colour from the more common silver, pure and simple. It's got bugger all to do with being more 'stealth' than everyone else. Do you really think that I wouldn't notice you because you have a black grill? No, of course not.

Jezzer can I ask who fitted and £how much? Did you buy the part from VAG Parts?

Stealth is just the word that's used when the car is given a low key look, its got nothing to do with being incognito and not recognised as an RS. Some just prefer not to have the bling look. I personally think the RS needs a touch of chrome in places, but I think that the grille in chrome makes the car look like the rest of the A4 range from the front and therefore needs the black grille to be different. In Phantom black the black grille looks great but I not sure it works with cars in colours like Avus for example. I did think it would be great to have the car black all over until i saw one. I'm glad this is as far as I went. i personally think that sprint blue looks better with chrome on the RS4 but looks better with black optics like on the sprint blue RS6+. Its all down to everyone's individual taste which is great.

Yep Totally agree , black optics is great on a black car..love the way it makes the mirrors stand out even more. Optics not really working for me on any other colours, and as you say especially the blue looks loads better with the std silver bits

jezzer you got it dead right - personal taste. I think optics on my avus rs would look a bit odd, saying that I have never seen one! I must say though I find any A/S/RS with black optics grill stands out more when it is driving towards me and always makes me look.

The one thing I'm not keen on though is the standard black exhaust tips!

Thanks Jezzer - Hitchin a bit far for me so phoned my local stealership (SW London) who were completely disinterested but eventually quoted me nearly £350 (incl 2 hrs labour at £110 per hour) - thanks but no thanks!

Am heading for APS on Saturday anyway to have one of my Milltek tips replaced so asked them...they can do it on Saturday for £170 all in, so they have my business :D .

As an aside does anyone know a good Audi dealership in London? Dovercourt Battersea (now Southfields) have just lost my business, and I've been warned off Finchley Road and West London (Victoria)...
