I believe it still work for the throttle mapping and sport (bucket) seat activation. So you still wanna press the S button for spirited driving.hugy wrote:After doing this mod, what happens when the S button is pressed?Does the sport mode still work?
Much better

There is no sport engine map.DoctorD wrote:Nothing, in terms of the sound, although the S button still activates the Sport engine map.hugy wrote:After doing this mod, what happens when the S button is pressed?Does the sport mode still work?
Two maps, one for the first 3 gears and one for gears 4-6.
If you disconnect the flaps then pushing the sport button will just adjust your seat.
Sport button still give the throttle responce, I tried it and confirmed it with Will at p torque. So "s" button still works.Attranac wrote:What about the throttle response?t_urbo wrote:There is no sport engine map.

I just finished disconnecting my exhaust flaps so they remain open all the time. Quite easy...my main difficulty was disconnecting the 2 black pipes without damaging the micro-fastening clips. Still...managed to do it in the end.
Car sounds much better at lower revs than previously. Haven't driven much post the mod but it certainly feels a bit meatier. Thank you to all for the helpful instructions.
Re: Sport mode...I thought it had already been proven by Jeroen that the sport map gives slightly more torque (but ultimately same power) in lower revs compared to non-sport mode. Is this increase in torque dependent on the flap opening rather than a map change?

yeah it shortens the throttle throw but it doesn't make any difference to the max throttle angle which remains the same under 5500rpm ( 50-60% throttle) regardless of what mode you are in.Attranac wrote:What about the throttle response?t_urbo wrote:There is no sport engine map.

Its explained better here by Jeroen of JD Engineering where i got my remap from.http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... c&start=45
Well, Gents. I'm now also a member of the Permanent Open Exhaust Flaps (POEF) club. Hehee. I reckon I gotta be the first one in Sydney to do this.
Thanks for all the info. The drivability does seem better at low revs. I must say though pulling the black pipe off the 90 degree connector (which attach to the smaller green pipe) is much easier to do by hands, no need for flat nose pliers and no chance of damaging the factory clips. Then as you all did, simply plug the open ends with some screws. All done in 3 mins.

2007 RS4 B7 - Phantom black saloon
That post was very interesting.
So it looks like Audi did for the RS4 the same thing that they did with the S4v8. Form what I remember, they did to respect some emission regulations.
The funny thing is that now for more than a year, the map defined for the S4 does not close the flaps anymore...
I am a bit surprised they did not apply yet the trick on the RS4
