Isnt the fact of whether these ecu mod's are detectable or not irrelevant, considering the raised Rev limit is fully detectable which would surely set the tec's alarm bells ringing.

Can MRC remap the ecu without raising the rev limit?
No doubt any tuner could re-map without raising the rev-limiter, however i'd guess that would reduce the gains & make the whole process somewhat worthless for the B7 RS4.

No idea if disconnecting the battery zeros the ECU flash counters.

Very true about the raised limit being noticable, however would any technician dare to test drive a customers car bouncing off the rev limiter?? If i caught any technician doing this to my car, i'd have his overalls & haul the dealer over the coals. Saying that i guess catching them is another matter altogether 8)

Pretty sure MRC could do that as their maps do seem completely customisable... they would have to say for sure..

You are right all this talk of detectability is part nonsense as the car is very different from stock and the rev limiter difference is obvious...

@turbo: the rev limit in an RS4 isn't as detectable as in a Porsche ;)

And yes, we can remap without raising the rev limit if such is your wish....

As for the flash count, no, it won't get reset if the battery is disconnected, the counter is written into an EEPROM (electrically-erasable programmable read-only memory), which, as such, doesn't get erased unless it receives an electrical command to do so.

So Mihnea, does this mean you could send the EEPROM an electrical command to reset the flash count...?

You can disconect the battery leads and touch them off eachother to clear codes and stuff

@I-want-an-RS: please explain to me how you clear codes from an ELECTRICALLY ERASABLE Programmable Read Only Memory chip by simply disconnecting the battery leads and touching them off each other? I'll save you the time to do it: you don't ;) and you can believe me, if you don't, then feel free to try, disconnect one of the engine's sensors when the engine is running, then do your "trick" and check for codes afterwards!!! you will have a code ;)

For a start I'm sure I CAN belive you, after all you have a lot more experiance with Audi than me.

What I meant was that you can reset codes like airbag and others, you CAN belive me as I have done it in the past on my RS4 when I changed the wheel from the alcantara to leather and forgot to reconect the airbag wire before turning the car on. I didn't have my laptop handy so took this messure.

Now I hope that has explained it to you and others.

Sorry if I spoke out of turn, please forgive me

I-Want-an-aRSe,
hahahaha - that's just SO bad .... made I laugh!

...anyhoo - I know that disconnecting the battery for a few mins gets rid of the 'max pressure exceeded' alarm from the ECU in my motor ...
