Hi jbtco, it's Steved here from BM3W. Would you mind telling me what price you got for your Z4MC? I am selling mine at the moment and would welcome another view. Thanks.jbtco wrote:I have just completed the first 1500 miles on my new RS4 having changed from a BMW Z4MC (which followed 2 E46 M3s). I changed for family & work reasons. Having spent the last 500miles or so on the wonderful roads of the far north west of Scotland I agree with DoctorD. The ZMC was the more fun and great as a weekend car but certainly at my level of skill the RS4 is probably more useable particularly in the wet.
RS4 Vs M3 Evo magazine
bizarre opinion - did you read the Autocar review where they listed the almost spooky similarity between the new M3 and the RS4?ChrisRS4 wrote:Despite the fact them I'm an Audi fan, I often question the relativety of a comparison like this. The RS4 is a limited production run, more akin to the M3 CSL. Would it not be more relevent to compare the S4 to the M3, and the RS4 to the CSL?
I can't imagine two more evenly matched cars in terms of price, power, perfomance etc, just need to compare M3 saloon instead (which will be more practical but will look worse) but none are currently available.
Audi do not make an equivalent of an M3 CSL.
Steve,
I have sent you a pm re the price as a canny scot I tend not to discuss my finances in public
My original intention was to keep the Z4MC for a while but involvement in some new projects means that I really need 4 seats & 4 doors.
My finances sadly don't allow me to hang on to the Z4Mc in addition to the RS4. I am thinking about a cheaper M car for weekend fun.

Lol, there should be...kman wrote:The CSL is a lightweight stripped down track focussed version of the M3. There isnt a stripped down lightweight version of the RS4...
Maybe its not fair to compare the RS4 to the M3 CSL as they're intended for different things. However, the S4 is Audi's top of the range/sports A4 in the way that the M3 is to the 3 series range so I think its still fair to compare the S4 to the M3. Its just that it seems that Audi is severely lacking if the comparison goes that way. Not a bizarre opinion at all IMO.

russianM3 dude - Does this link ring a bell/mean anything to you??RussianM3_dude wrote:Well, I was suckered by brilliant reviews. Also it is possible that my car is a bit of Lemon to begin with. It just never happened to me before that I came to hate just about every aspect of the car, including things as minute as the gearshift lever which becomes blisterengly hot (literally, ouch!) on a Summer day.
Rest assured, from now on I will test drive the cars fully, dealer's pleas to be gentle be damned!!!

other than the inaccuracy of the first statement, you seem to be hung up on the fact that the S4 begins with an S and therefore must be comparable to an M carChrisRS4 wrote: However, the S4 is Audi's top of the range/sports A4 in the way that the M3 is to the 3 series range so I think its still fair to compare the S4 to the M3. 335i M Sport saloon - £34k 306bhp
M3 saloon (when it comes) - £51k, 414bhp
which one do you think is comparable to the £51k, 414bhp RS4 saloon then?
The S4 is 340bhp and £37k odd - a few k and a fair few more horses than the 335i sport so looks good in comparison. So no direct BMW rival so certainly bizarre to compare it to a car costing nearly 40% more!
