Without wising to be shot down; the RS4 with options weighs in at 1710kg, this was quoted in a magazine and I verified this on a weigh bridge down the road from West Tuning (weigh bridge actually said 1700kgs)

But, this aside I can honestly say that Im still not bored of the car, and I do have a habit of changing cars every 8 months or so (had the RS4 for 15 months now)!!

Erm no RM3Dude AWD will be able to put down power more affectively at launch and out of corners. It has a tendency to understeer under power which means it is usually slower through the corners however but this can be eliminated through a variety of suspension changes.
RWD is very very much a feel thing, enthusiasts like it and it makes people feel like they have more control. It does not make any particluar car faster.

Ouch, self fault tolerance detected? CSL has Michelin CUP Tyres => much better grip then Pirelli P Zero CORSA for the RS4, agree? 997C2S has Michelin PS2 N1 specification, which have an identical 1,3g in corners ... OMG Dude, you really think reality is a piece of paper :D

M392 and RS4 Limo with identical tyres and weight => RS4 will beat the hell out the M392 on EVERY Racetrack.

This is really simple. In dry smooth condtions the M3 will be faster, for 99% of UK driving time the RS4 will be faster and much SAFER!

mrdeli wrote:Actually it's not - the new M3 is around 70kgs lighter - the report is incorrect
& your source is more correct because??

In Auto Express & AutoCar the M3 Coupe is 1655KG & the RS4 Saloon is 1650, so the RS4 is 5KG lighter than the M3.

Audi website confirms the RS4 is 1650KG

The M3 is not yet listed on the BMW UK website.
They are mixing up different weighting norms. The M3 weight has the driver plus fluids while the RS4 does not. This has been endlessly debated on other forums.
So every publication i've read is quoting the BMW laden & the RS4 unladen?? I've had a couple of BMW's & the weights offered were always under the same conditions as Audi.

Be a bit thick of BMW to do anything other than the same as Audi, as the press are telling everyone the M3 is the heavier car, so something more sinister must be happening

My car does not have any heavy options  only the front centre armrest. The buckets IIRC are lighter than the Recaros so apart from my fat ar$e i'm totally lithe like  :D

Only made the point in my earlier post, i'm not fussed which car is the heavier. I moved from the M brand back to Quattro as i prefer the usable nature of the RS4, against all the technology & shocking usability in anything other than perfect conditions of the M5.

The M3 will be a great & popular car & i'm just glad that those who know, see the RS4 as the slightly better car, even though BMW have had nearly 18mths to get the jump on Audi.

One thing I have found that has always been better on Audi cars: the seats!

From the first S/RS versions even the most basic seats have better support than any BMW ones.

Being relatively tall and no skinny bones, any time I would pop around in an M3 or similar, it was a a relatively crappy ride since there was all this sliding about the place and the back pains that followed.

Any S3 has better support, in fact the Recaro seats that I had in the Golf Mk4 were better!

This RS4's bucket seats option seems excellent.

All new BMW sport seats are width adjustable, wayyyyyy better then the Recaros, which are too big for me.

Well Audi defo state 1650 for the Saloon (didn't check the Avant figure). The glass sunroof is a damned heavy option, as are a belly full of pies, which my car often suffers with, that or McDonalds Breakfasts :o

That would be with a "Full Tank" of fuel then, yes.Because mine weighed 1700Kg full up.
