The day finally came and my RS4 is now sold; just waiting to meet the new owner for them to collect their new(ish) car.

I'll keep reading on the RS4 section and positively chip in where I can as it is truly the best source of genuine RS4 enthusiasts anywhere. Hope my lowly RS3 is acceptable enough at future meets too.

TTFN. :beerchug:

Collected Graeme's car on Friday. As the new owner I can say that the car is a total credit to him. It's been cherished. I intend to do the same. :kissmyrings:

Defo should have bought the Daytona R8 with milltek ;-)
Would have been cheaper too, as that R8 hasnt got much more to loose whereas the RS 3 ...

The R8 is 5yrs old and 50% of original RRP
Im assuming PG was referring to Lofty's R8, which at £47k with 12 months Audi warranty, best colour and low miles is amazing VFM where im sitting

Depreciation from now on will be minimal for such a legendary car, compared to a brand new RS 3 based on such old hat tech, espcially once the new RS 3 comes out with more power, less weight and better tech

Cost of a car is the depreciation, not the purchase price .... As long as you have access to funds

Couldnt agree more DK,my depreciation for is approx 2k pa with my b7 now thats going to take some beating. The R8 is totally impractical but a solid buy aswell as a car i feel i need to own at some point.

I am sure depreciation wise you are right DK, the R8 would have been a better choice. However part of the deal on an R8 was buying a Juke or something even bigger for lady P_G to use as the family car as the A2 would not have worked in that respect for holiday's etc. The A2 costs us nothing except keeping it on the road.

BTW it was not lofty's R8, it was a Sepang Blue with oxygen blades; carbon engine + interior pack; B&O; mag. ride; reverse camera etc with a private seller, beautiful car (now sold BTW). But the harsh realities are that I still have two kids who at 6 and 3 still both need to be able to travel in my car whilst it returns better fuel economy than the RS4 but give me as much fun (if possible) as the RS4. Hence the RS3. Time will tell if limited production run to 650 cars will help steady values in the long term; if the new one comes out probably not but those are the risks you take. In the meantime it still costs less than what I was doing albeit it ties me into a car for the next few years but in all honesty I can't look at an R8 type car until the kids are in their teens so the RS3 may well fit that bill for the next 6 or so years. Time will tell once I have driven it / one.

I did say to myself when I bought the RS4 used I wouldn't buy a new car and take the depreciation however seeing how poorly specced the RS3's out there used / available were if I were to drive in a car for the next 4-6 years then it had to come with pretty much everything I wanted and the one I have does plus for the extra £2-3k it cost to get my spec over time it will be worth it (hopefully!).

i agree mate as soon as you chuck kids into the equation, the answer changes dramtically

thats why im getting my R8 in before all that stuff happens !
