Spill the beans.
+1 I have been trying not to ask but am genuinely intrigued, my local would have laughed in my face even while it was still under warrant if I had asked for a carbon clean.

Hi i am new to this site but may be able to help with the problem you have. I can clean the inlet track of your car with very little strip down saveing you a lot of time and money.
The process will restore lost power better idle better mpg. The process takes about 1.5hrs an oil and filter change is needed as well but the results are VERY GOOD.
If you would like any more info just pm me and will talk about it in more depth thankyou. Also I would also come to you so can be done anywhere.

It's too late for mine as its pretty much done now, but out of interest, what do you use to do it in 1.5hrs when all of the well known specialists take >10 ?

1.5 hours is just not possible as just stripping the car back to get to the carbon is gonna take the best part of an hour before soaking the carbon, my mechanic worked on another car at the same time, and kept coming back to mine to clean and re soak, this way it keeps the cost down on labour and freed him up on another job, mine took 5 hours of cleaning to provide a proper job

Manual Carbon Clean - UPDATE - Engine's coming out

Sodium hydroxide aka caustic soda would clean the carbon off a treat and in very little time.... BIG BUT, it also eats aluminium in half that time, so not really an option. Spoke to my chemist at work and she seems to think mechanical removal is the only way.

As I said on your other thread

ahem....... EVIDENCE!

Photos, close ups etc etc.

If you really do have this sorted you will be a busy man but until the proof you will struggle for any support on here.

As a quick update to the thread, the engine's now right out of my RS4 and the heads are coming off. I've seen pics of the carbon build up numorous times before from the top down, but looking from under the cylinder head it's an absolute Blimmin mess

Anyway, on the positive I have a nice new courtesy car from Audi Swindon for our weeks camping and it means I don't have to stress at the kids for getting close to scratching my car.

It's a brand new A6 3.0tdi Quattro tip tonic. It's got millions of toys, and to be honest, it's a really rather nice place to be for motorway or dual carriageway journeys.
It's Blimmin massive too

Quick update
Spoke to Audi Swindon today, who have sent the heads off to a company called South Cerney Engineering. I know this company myself and their work really is second to none, so at least I know Audi are taking this seriously
In the meantime, the A6 they've lent me has been a really nice car for the 600odd miles I've done in the last week to Newquay and back and looking down to see 35mpg average has taken some getting used to as well :)
Still, I'm missing my Rs now and I'm certainly looking forward to getting it back (hopefully) next week

Popped into Audi today to see how they're getting along
Heads were enroute back to them fully clean and re seated
They seem to think that if heads turned up later this afternoon that my car would be ready to collect Friday pm. Judging by the state of disassembly of it currently, I think that's a big ask ;
