Re: delete this please
I regretted posting this up as soon as people started to pick holes in what I was saying. It's sitting here with my request for it to be deleted yet nobody has done anything about it.
Originally it was posted up to highlight how <beep> people can be and a warning to others about parking in car parks - we have all heard the stories but we rarely get to see the photos.
I'll not be using the forum after this - far too many negative argumentative posts just for entertainments sake and very few knowledgable or posts of substance. There are a select few, but even they seem to have arseholes trying to argue the toss about rolling roads and other 16 year old horseshit.
Put it this way, if someone posts about about superchargers, I want to read some supercharger experiences and perhaps learn some info. I couldnt give a <beep> about picking holes in power figures and transmission losses, save that for the transmission losses thread or the pub.
Not a good online community here im afraid gents, something you should think about and the mods need to actually do some moderation.
Mods - please delete the thread as requested yesterday

A lawyer once told me "write every email and post as though it could end up published in a national newspaper". It's a good rule to remember.
Prawn - forums are unique places and you'll rarely get exactly what you want from them. It's a meeting of minds and opinions, it should never be taken that seriously. If I upset you then I apologise and I mean it. If you're seriously about this forum not being good enough for you and you're not getting what you want from it, then I guess it's goodbye.

A bit extreme... But if that's how you feel.
I agree with bam bam in that you really shouldn't take things too seriously (or post drunk
) and pretty much every forum in some ways is like being back at school.
To be fair your original post was always going to be poked fun at as it did read 'I did something annoying and look what happened'. I know your car is damaged and I know that it's really crap (mine was hit recently with similar damage but worse as ended up with an insurance bill of over 2k) but it could have been a lot worse.
As for this forum... Well like some places there are some... 'unique' personalities and that's what I actually like about it. Also there are many knowledgable and experienced people and generally it's all taken in good spirit. Importantly very few of the main participants are located up their own backside. Sure things get argumentative at times but it doesn't mean it's negative - id rather have a strong discussion than just have everybody nodding along. Friends can have a blazing row and still be friends after all.

Re: delete this please
Sorry, but I dont agree. I don't have to be part of it so i simply wont log into the site. I'm not getting anything from it and when I post something of substance it gets shredded. I wouldnt be social with people that dont welcome or constructively discuss my opinions, so I have no reason to frequent this forum.
I'm actually a forum Sponsor for another forum on behalf of my own business (non-car related) and I know how forums work - 60% of my business comes from online forums. None of them contain the huge imbalance of argumentative rubbish that I see on here and when someone states a fact or tale for the benefit of the forum, people take it in and dont question it or pick holes in it like they do here.
I'm not ripping into the forum for the sake of it, I'm just sharing my opinion for your benefit before I leave. It needs improvement and I'm voting with my feet unfortunately.
Happy motoring folks

Says the man who has only contributed 60 posts to the forum in his history, and 1/5 of that in this one thread. Forums are for people to contribute, I find your slagging off of this community somewhat hypocritical given how little you have put into it. TBH as much as I sympathise with your plight and I should know, it has taken me 10 years to get my insurance to levels where they should be after an unlicensed cab plughed into my parked car and FCUK'ed off leaving an £8k repair bill that was non recoverable, what you did in parking over two spaces is not the solution.pekingprawn wrote:Sorry, but I dont agree. Park in the space next to disabled or family only to get better clearance or at the end of a row so one side is protected and the other side is far enough away from the next space to minimise the possibility of damage or last resort the other side of the car park away form everyone else but parking across two spaces shouts ignorance and elitism on your part. I loathe it as much as lazy twats who park in family spacers when they clearly don't have families to consider.
If you don't like people pulling you up for that on a forum; don't read it. I don't let any negative comments on here personally affect me because it is a forum, it is not my life. And you then going on to give your negative opinion when you won't take the opinions of others is hypocrocy personified. BTW what substance was there in your original post apart from woe is me, I'm thinking of emigrating because of the people in the UK are nasty to me?
Bye bye, not nice to have known you.

Lemme get this right; you start a thread that contains a component someone disagrees with but since it's your thread, they shouldn't post anything against or contrary to your opinion/experience? Errrm, that could work... in 1950s Russia.
Bye Prawn.

Re: delete this please
theres alot of points been made here....and thats why we all here....but when someone jumps up and just starts saying your a p r i c k...thats not on...thers more suttle ways of saying things...i take 2 parking spaces if i cant get parent parking when im with my kid.....alot of people take 2 parking spaces but they wont all admit it.....also noticed that the sensible people from this forum have not posted anything negative.....only one person doing that......theres no need for it...im in pekings camp on this one all the way....he was unlucky he took 2 spaces and got hit.....9/10 times that would have happened in a single PARKING space......but everyones entitled to their view.....LETS DO IT WITH OUT PERSONAL INSULTS

Re: delete this please
last year there was 79 incidents at a local tesco involving minor damage and 2 serious...local waitrose was even worse with more than a 100 incidents in a year....waitrose has only 10 parent spaces and 10 disabled rest of car park is all single spaces...tesco has about 30 parent and disabled and rest all single space......according to some surveys 20% of minor accidents are in a supermarket car park
