I calculated a total if 21k to lease the m3 for 2 years inc tyres/maintenance
I'm likely to do about 15,000 miles over the next 2 yrs. So I may need rear tyres (£500) but doubt I'll need fronts. The dealer doesn't expect the car will need servicing in the first 2 years (condition based servicing) and neither does the on board computer at the moment. Same for the pads - can't remember what the car is quoting but it is well in excess of 15,000 miles until front pads will be needed (rears even longer).

It will be interesting to re-visit this thread in 2 years time to see how accurate (or not) the numbers were.

If the new RS4 as is now being widely reported has the RS5 engine I don't believe residuals will be harmed as much as if it had the turbo V8. That and maintenance costs aren't likely to be as high as you make out. In the two years mine has ben out of warranty all I have had to fork out for is new front discs and pads at a sum total of £600 plus skimming of the rears at £50 in addition to servicing plus tyres whilst doing 15-18k miles p.a. And probably even less for those who do low miles.

I can see the attraction of a new car and the peace of mind of warranty, however of the 6 Audi's I have owned with a bit of mechanical sympathy they are bombproof and cost little to nothing to own so keeping a 5 year old cr for another 3-4 years is not a daunting prospect for me.

I don't see the new RS4 making a lot of difference to b7 prices,if they don't get there act together and produce one that's dynamically better than the b7 (which they've not done with any Rs since the b7 imo) then the b7 could increase in value,if it doesn't get a v8 turbo I personally would be daft to part with a hefty lump of change for a car that my current one would outperform with its current mods.I like the idea of a new m3 but i can't get away from the the fact you are still paying the steep initial depreciation.Mine has been out of warranty nearly 2 years and cost nothing other than servicing, sure drc was done under extended warranty which I was very gratefully for.

Tlking of mechanical sympathy it always amazes me how many owners rag the arse of the car and then are suprised when ther get major problems sorry for drifting off topic here just a quick rant
