not really

according to those stats, its 200kg lighter :sekret:

and yet has much less BHP per tonne,

I think somit is wrong with your car mine is standard apart from miltek and filter and mine feels quick as fuk iv had m5, m3 reno sports ect and the rs is quicker i found it hard to shake off a clio cup once, remeber its a heavy car and its doent feel as fast as u are auctully are going if u know what i mean my 9 year old says when i kane other cars they feel faster than the rs but when u look at the speedo after giving the rs the beans u are shifting, u just got to kane fuk out of it with really qiuck gear changes that are spot on 8200rpm and you should defo have a surge at 5500 rpm i had a duel with my mate in his 57 plate 911 turbo auto and there was fuk all in it, i also drove it and it wasnt much quicker than mine and it sounded <beep> compared to mine, just keep them revs up

Yep, and with 135Kg's more than the Avant, I don't see how it is possible that they are equallly quick on the 0-60 dash ! I think audi have been telling fibs

I get the kick at 5500 RPM and my car does feel very fast, im sure had we been at the lights I would have pasted it good and proper, but as a comparative 3rd gear run 50~90 and also 50 in 2nd gear to the limiter then 3rd to 90, it was very similar in performance, I have checked the stats on the 2.0 tfsi and it is exactly in it's max power band during those speeds, essentially I caught that car showing it's best side.

Heh - engine/aero was enzo Ferrari.
Not sure on the wall one - heard it third hand
Torque and gears was me :)
(based on enzo's famous one)

first what are the weights of the cars
what is the torque band
what is the gearing (auto or manual?)
depending on year there are 2 2t engines 180 and 211 HP, 180 (manual or 6 speed auto) and 211 HP (manual, 6 or 7 speed auto) the cab only comes with the 7 speed auto
if this was the 211 with the 7 speed s-tronic, he dropped a gear or 2 and was in the power band, you were not

and you can't differentiate between HP and torque, they are related (P = T x w) and 2 different parameters
one is a force the other the rate of application of said force

the cars are not limited in the lower gears, it will make full torque <5000
what is limited is throttle position because you don't need as much air at low rpms (air Q ~ displacement x rpm)
they do this so the air velocity will be higher (air speed inverse to area)

our car has a 4.11:1 diff(s), very high, and 3rd is 1.52 for an overll ratio of 6.25
A5 2.0T ratios
S-Tronic:
1st: 3.69
2nd: 2.24
3rd: 1.56
4th: 1.18
5th: 0.92
6th: 0.75
7th: 0.62
Final: 3.88

he dropped to second with the auto, at that point he had a torque advantage
8.69 vs 6.25 or 40%, over coming the 258 vs 317 advantage of 23%

Its a 2 door coupe versus a cab,if you had a like for like comparison weightwise i think you see it favouring the rs4 in all areas.I think you have issues with your your car like Daz in his recent thread.Do you get the kick in the later gears?Has it been a town car for a long period? If its heavily carboned up from earlier years then italian tunes will only help keep it at the level its already at,intake flaps airbox flaps and carbon are the three most likely causes, there is a cure though as mine all sit in a cardboard box in the garage haha The 60-100 test doesnt favour the rs4 with it having its torque restricted until after 100,if you like the car then spend a little bit tuning it/removing <beep> eco friendly sh%te that causes many problems,my car is now much quicker than standard and has alot more punch than stock and is compareable to my tuned b5 rs4

@ lengster Your right the only way forward is to de-restrict this car, and yes it was a town car. I do get a noticeable kick at 5500 RPM though

@ Arthur, I do not have all the details, but I know it was a late 2009 211ps model, I could not say for certain on the gearbox used

F430 has a flat plane crank, like the Lotus V8 Esprit.

Supposed to be easier to generate big power with a flat plane crank.

Flat plane V8s tend to be lighter as they have less bits to spin (less on the crank) = higher revving = more power. Exhaust system doesn't have to be as convoluted either to tune the pulses as the firing order is different, and that's the bit that makes the Ferrari noise.

Ok

Been doing 50-90 in my S4

All in 3rd, 90 is just at the limiter

I recon I'd do a B7 all day long

Will prove it at the Kent meet

My last car was a highly tuned 310 bhp 2.0T hatchback.
Turbo torque means you have easier (faster) access to power.
Max acceleration in an RS4 is dependent on getting to high revs with quick gear changes ie a good driver....I'm not particularly!
I was probably quicker in the Turbo, but that car is much slower then this one
Other half has a 320 bhp turbo which is very to catch out an M3 V8 in, but under no illusion its in the same league as the BMW :)
Never going back to a Turbo though after a V8.
