Is any other manufacture any different?

After nearly 4 years, I still haven't considered selling...probably because it still has the wow factor, feels and looks special/good.

The only car that I may be tempted to, has an '8' in it's name :)
and an R at the front with a V10 in the rear?

Good luck aiden. For me, the RS is staying. It is a shame these cars are mileage sensitive as most will know I have had minimal problems with mine and it is probably one of the highest mileage ones on the forum, running them is better than not!

We did the maths and with what the deficit it between value and finance, for me to sell up and find something that I like that is frugal and nowheer near as much fun will take 2 years to pay dividend.

I suspect the RS will be around long enough for R8 V10's to be in my £60K price bracket and why not, I never tire of driving it!

$0% depreciation in 4 years is very good, although a lot to do with my low mileage.

The RS4 was instead of the planned 2nd hand 996TT due to impending fatherhood, and still hanker after a 911. But I have taken the worst of the depreciation hit, the car has been faultess apart from DRC and is cheap to run (apart from fuel and tax).

So this week I decided to keep it and reward myself with some hazzydayz upgrades (digi TV, BT and ipod) and a trip to MRC

Still love the looks, and driving experience and makes financial sense to actually keep this one for a while longer.
I have been looking into this myself hazzy is currently supplying an inferior version of the TV for the same price that Kufatec will sell you the Kit with the new improved version of the Digi TV (the 400 instead of the 200) of course with the Kufatec you have to install yourself, but it can't be that hard ?

I'm keeping my RS4 as many years as I can keep it running, there's nothing else I'm attacted to replace it with at the moment.

all this talk of bad depreciation is IMO rubbish

the RS 4 has had a whale of a time depreciation wise in the last 2 years, its still a VERY sought after car and still stands up to a 2011 M3 with its head held high

I bought a 65k avus saloon from AUDI in Dec 09 for £26k, sold for £24.5k 10k later .... given I paid a dealer premium, and put 10k on the clock, I'd say that was depreciation free

anyone buying a £50k car before its 5 years old has to understand they will depreciate like a bomb ... its only after 5 years the curve flattens

but the RS 4 has had a flatter curve from £35k to £25k than normal

Go on autotrader, there are so many dogs under £25k ...

think about depreciation anther way, drive the car, then you get more use out of it .... cost per mile

the biggest key to minimizing your financial hit is buy low, sell high .... how do you do that? buy privately, haggle hard, drive a bargain .... cherish the car, make it mint, then when the time comes, get a good price

yes not natural for some ... some just want to use the dealer at both ends, this method costs by far and away the most depreciation

I wont forget the 30k B6 S4 I bought for £10k and so for £12.5k a month later as it just didnt do it for me (coming after an RS 6)

Surely we buy these cars because of the way they drive, the way they look at the way they make us feel when we hit the loud pedal!!
I have owned many different cars over the past couple of years and not one of them has offered the package you get with the RS4.
A good friend of mine works for Lexus and when he knew I was looking for a car he was adament I drove the ISF, which I did, they I took him out in the RS4 all he said was "say no more, awesome"!
I'm not slating the Isf because its was a nice car and I can appreciate people liking it, each to there own and all that.
As for depreciation, use it,love it and look after it! A good car will always fetch the money!
Just my opinion!

All this talk of 8k-10k depreciation in 2 years is if you want to have your pants down at both ends of ownership via a dealer, they dont get involved in top end pricey motors like these without a healthy profit,Im coming up 2yrs ownership of mine,i gave £31k for it needing front discs and pads soon with 25k on it,a well loaded 56 plate avant with 34k on it now wouldnt be out of place at £29k,ive just been out viewing a new possible house in the country with a carfull on typical country roads and the car is simply awesome at destroying roads like this with ease in comfort, drc is a pain but awesome when tip top, buying and selling cars such as these will be expensive if you want the pleasure and ease of using dealers,im very happy with depreciation i think its done very well

haha, that truly is the spirit!
I said that last year when I decided on buying an RS4 to replace both my cars,- A4 Avant 3.0TDI and the 22B, However when it came down to it I couldnt bring myself to market the B so that was exactly what I said after the 3.0tdi was sold.

However this time 1 car absolutely HAS to go, and as I've had the Scoob for 5 years and the Audi for 1 year I think it has to be the 22B. Mind, I've got something very nice to replace it with :) , that also wont/shouldn't depreciate very much either. Ive got upto 8 weeks to sell either before I get it. Might just put up both and let fate decide!

22b.....I,l be first in the queue if your selling that awesome white avant!!!!

And probably will have to fight them off...your avant is awesome!!!

Haha, thanks guys. Well I've just taken the hardest step, -listed the 22B on P'heads, a sad day indeed!

Not all bad though, I'm replacing it with a M400 with just under 500bhp!

The original post wasn't meant to be doom and gloom....appologies if some have taken it that way and expanded the subject a bit. Some comments I agree with, some I don't. Its wasnt a "hit" towards RS4 owners (which technically I still am till tomorrow), etc etc .
As for the ISF - its a different car to the RS4, just as a 370z is different to a Boxter.
And yes, maybe the RS4 is a better car, and I will be the first to admit if it is...BUT, change is good and if situations arise that facilitate the need for a change, then so be it.

However, good luck getting 29K for a 56 avant.
