Their reason for stopping me was because a recently stolen RS4 was in the area & to check my ID.

They also mentioned cloned plates & a bank robbery!

P.S. Hello all as this is my first post!
had same problem yesterday done Id check and done told me it was used on a armed robbery

Why don't they tell people that it's an RS4 not just an A4 ? Would they say it was a 3 series BMW if it was an M3 that was stolen ?

Probably.

The average journalist now writes so much misinformation that any stories in the press of which you have personal knowledge often bear little relationship to what happened.

For example, when I was at school another pupil was making his own fireworks in his dad's garden shed. One day he put a bit too much explosive in and it went off, breaking the windows in the shed and slightly burning his arm. How was this reported in the national press the next day? - "Boy blows off arm in homemade firework prank". Total rubbish!

They probably dont know what an RS4 is most of them. I had a look on the web and this seems to be the only robbery in the South. There was one up north a couple of weeks ago where an RS4 was used.

I think my car has gone now :( guess have to move on

I had a clk 55 cab stolen in june this year with a tracker fitted. ( Was told the same story by the met about it probably being stolen for europe/ dubai). Didn't hear anything more, so bought the rs6. Then on friday of last week a whole 5 months later, I got a call from police saying some guy had taken it into a london MB dealer who called the police. All the visible Id numbers had been changed on the car.

Emma would you really WANT it back now ?

Don't let the b****** s put you off buying another performance car.

How long has it got to have gone before you get paid out ? Keep us informed how much they offer you, as little as possible, as always !! :x

I guess I dont really want it back now, but part if me REALLY wants to know where it is right now.

The car was bought in August and stolen in October so I am hoping the insurance will be kind. They are in the process of revewing it all as we speak. The guy came out and saw the garage door and said 'oh i think you're genuine' (nice of him) As if I have the urge regually to drive the car throught the front of the garage doors!

I've learnt a few things since having this car stolen -

- Never leave anything at all in your car
- dont chose the cheapest insurance as when/if you go to use them you can always tell why they were cheap as their service could be poor
- Dont bother with Tracker, complete waste of time, money and effort

Hi Emma , Sorry to hear about your car , I'll keep an eye out at work for your (Camberley Audi) post your Vin number on the
notice boards . With Referance to Tracker issues , we had a grey avant RS4 stolen recovered in at work with the Old Bill last week for complete
lock set and new tracker due to them cutting it out. I suspect the buggers have info on installing them and know where to look.

Thanks Stuart that's really kind of you. Maybe it's worth me emailing other Audi dealers?

Police rang, car was spotted a week and a half ago in a petrol station, 2 guys with balaclavas filled up and drove off without paying.

Police seem to be abit slow.

Hi Stuart, how did they get it started as I thought without keys they were pretty much impossible to get going?

Simon.

The car was found yesterday down a lane in Herts. Same plates and hardly any damage!
