B7 RS4 Rolling Road Day 18th April 2009 (Free of Charge)
its not the number that concerns me, more the actual power curve, when they get posted out, I will pop it in here, but it doesnt look normal

PetrolDave, agree totally. This is no way scientific but a friend and myself found a quiet road last night and did 6 or more standing 0-60’s. These averaged out at 4.7s and like I said this was not a professional timed session but we were 2-up. For me that’s close enough for my 355bhp figure not to cause me too much concern. I would still be interested in an ‘official’ day out with you guys should the opportunity arise just to prove this once and for all.
To whom, your ECU? Seriously though it is undetectable to your average tech but every map has a signature machine code trace, just depends on how close to the original program it looks as to whether it is spotted.klauster wrote:Paramount told me the map they did was undetectable...

No remap is undetectable.P_G wrote:To whom, your ECU? klauster - this MAY give you problems if and when you ever go back to Audi to investigate the power loss. Technically they now have a get of jail free card

ive thought about this... i will just say the car hasn't been done by me, I havent owned it from newpippyrips wrote:No remap is undetectable.P_G wrote:To whom, your ECU? Firstly Jim, thanks for organising a superb day, I have only had the car a fortnight (I was worried I would not have it in time), and it was great to meet up with so many enthusiastic people and to get an idea about output.
It’s taken me a while to catch up on this post, but here is my two bobs worth.
Performance, my car is stock, and has 26k miles, and produced 347bhp on 97 ron from Sainsbury as that was convenient and I have only filled it up twice. It’s only had one service which I anticipate was about 10k miles ago and has another 10k to go.
Am I disappointed – not at all? I was anticipating within 10% of the manufactures claimed figures, so less about 40bhp, so not too far off. There are so many variables even on a day like this, temperature, airflow, fuel, tyre pressures etc, before you start looking in to the variables of the actual engine itself and tolerances here. I said to the Mrs I had hoped for 360bhp, and she said I better get it sorted when I texted her on the way back, but on the way back I took a detour to a rural route that I used to use frequently in my STI, and I have to say that the RS4 certainly impressed and easily outperformed the STI as you would hope and expect. The car easily achieves a good 0-60 and on a private road it readily achieved 130mph before a nagging sound was heard from the NSF, but then I had only had it 3 days, and was not exactly going for it.
So what can we learn for the day – well I have spent a whole day at rolling road before with a race car (and if you heard me mention what it was you know why I am holding back repeating it here), and the thing is they are a tool, you establish a baseline, keep everything as constant as possible (oil temp, air flow, tyre pressures etc etc) and then work to increase the output. Moving from one rolling road to another will not help you, unless you repeat the process and even on the next day you are going to see different figures as indeed you will throughout the course of the day (air density, air temperature, vehicle temperature etc). You then take what you learnt from the rolling road to the track, we spent another day at an airfield doing straight runs and then a run through a corner to determine the best combinations that gave good Vmax and acceleration.
Am I trying to justify the low figure to myself – not at all ,the proof is in the driving and it drives fine, would I like more power – yes of course, my first steps will be to switch fuel, change the oil and then give it another run at paragon to see if it makes a difference and report back here.
I would definitely be up for a day on airfield or similar, and I think a big credit is due to the guys at Paragon for a very excellent day and to Jim for all his hard work in organising everything so smoothly.
Cheers
Andrew
