Who knows what 'major maintenance' is but I am going to replace the timing chains, tensioners and aux drive belts. Probably do the oil and water pumps at the same time.

If I remember rightly, the original E30 M3 had timing chains 'for the lifetime of the vehicle' yet most specialists recommended changing them at 100,000.

I agree, it will be a large service bill but money well spent if keeping the car long-term.

Cheaper than ceramics! :D

I was going by the price of the proper OEM ones! :-)

2k to pull the engine? May as well get as much stuff done at the same time then.

For me ceramics are overkill but seeing as you track your one quite a bit I can see why you want to upgrade them.

Is the RS4 not a bit heavy to use as a track day weapon though?

Tbh it's demanding on brakes but incredibly sure footed. Obviously it likes the sweeping tracks over tight circuits (castle combe was horrible for example whilst silverstone is real nice). I'd like a nicer turn in and (justifying it here!!) the ceramics would help itg that with much less unsprung weight.
Overall the car really is very very good on track - even though at 1650 kgs it's rather portly you'd never know. :)

If you were running KW3's I guess you would wind off a bit of compression and rebound damping due to the lower unsprung mass. The coilovers combined with uprated ARB's really tightens up the handling but does sacrifice the comfort a little. Ironic given I have never tracked my one! Maybe I should do a track day next year.....

1650kg? If only, the Avant is 1710kg!

Still lighter (and stiffer) than the cab though :-)

Still not fitted the ARB's?

No. Forgotten all about them tbh. Well done - fair shout!
