Interesting point about mpg & tax banding. Might be the boring end but I'm interested in knowing whats been done on that front. In fairness I imagine it's quite difficult nowadays to advance these engines when you have to think about emissions & efficiency. I'm sure if they wanted too they couldve got more from the engine.

It does beg the question why they didn't go FI?

it does make me laugh thou as most of the haters are in a position to purchase a brand new RS 4 no matter if it had a triple turbo W18 engine running 2,345PS

I'd wager (quite heavily) that most if not all the CO2 and MPG improvements are down to the DSG box.
Combination of being an auto (so in the "test" it'll select a stupidly high gear and as soon as you lift off it can start upchanging to maximise coasting) and 7 gears that I'm guessing are closer together so all makes for better economy.

The engine may have some improvements but the fundamental specs are so similar that I can't seem them getting much more out of it.

In late 2010, a three year old B7 was just about the most cash I could bear to part with for a car. I'm not buying the new one, or a new anything for quite a while, so my 'will I / won't I buy this B8' is pure fantasy. A tiny bit of jealousy has crept in now that the new king of the RS4 quattros is here. It's going to be awesome. Probably. :kissmyrings:

Still don't like the benign exterior. Boo! :biggrin3:

I have to say the interior looks so far like it hits the spot, its just all the other areas that are not looking so hot yet.

I don't know why every1 keeps complementing the interior, it's a step down from the B7. It might have the gadj but the material quality is <beep>, not to mention ergonomics

Who buys a new car outright these days anyways, seriously? I'd like to know how many get bought cash, surely they'll all be taken on lease 3+23, contract hire, director's whim etc etc.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I do - the only time I get finance is if it's interest free.
Much better options to financing a car than by lease or secured loan on the car imo.

Is quite funny when they ask "so how would sir like to pay?" as they slide over the 19.9% finance leaflets...
"Debit card ok?"

I purchased my RS4 outright, over 4 years ago, saved £11k doing so.

Well there's not much there that makes me want to spend 60k on that. No matter how good it drives wont make up for the fact that its pretty ugly and for that reason alone I'm not interested.
I'm kinda happy about that as it means that there is absolutely no temptation to sell my B7 just to have the latest RS4. Also reassures me about keeping mine and spending lots of dosh on it. Your money's better spent keeping/modding/supercharging your B7 than losing it on depreciation on a new RS4!

Also 60K on an Audi A4, why are sports saloons getting so expensive. I remember when the M3 E46 was 40k and the conny was 46k. Although having said that, the B5 RS4 was 46.5k back in the day, 50k if you wanted some toys on it.
