Re: My Matt Black RS4 Saloon
VW sold a harlequin Golf for a while, they've also exhibited a similar Passat. It seems there are a lot of people who:
a) are colour insensitive
b) have zero taste, style or class
c) are morons

The pseudo-cubism artist Romero Britto did it, showed it off in a Florida dealership (think it was a commission) . His done a few cars to include a Bentley, mini and a boat.

Re: My Matt Black RS4 Saloon
Harlequin Edition Golf
"Volkswagen originally created the Design series to tour at International Auto shows. Due to the huge public response of the original four Design series, 60 more were produced. Eventually, 264 were made and offered in 1996, exclusively in the North American market.
Based on the 1996 Golf GL platform, the Harlequin model included: limited edition Harlequin paint scheme, limited edition Harlequin sport cloth seats, and silver-faced gauges. They were offered with several different wheel options.
One of the rarest VWs ever produced, the Harlequins were produced by swapping the body panels of four different colored Golfs. They are usually designated by their base color (the color of the car with no body panels attached). The base color is not repeated on any of the other body parts."
From the wiki

What wiki doesn't say is that VW originally painted this harlequin design to use as a legend for a cut-away car showing the technology underneath. However, stupid <beep> Americans kept coming up and asking when was it going on sale, how much does it cost or [insert dumb <beep> question here].
Hence, VW thought they'd throw a few more on the dog and pony shows, it got more of a response, so they made some. Sure enough, 'people' bought them, idiots.

Re: My Matt Black RS4 Saloon
What makes it worse is that they are getting a little desireable and going for a few quid.
I think the uk also sold the polo in harlequin form.
Then you get this

I'd have a guess that the one pictured above is Ginster Yellow due to the rear quarter, roof and skirts.
