For the amount i get to use/drive my "best car" that is a fair consideration,is it 800 every 6 months regardless? Surely one must be an inbetweenie simple oils service? That plus there thirst is cooling my interest i have to say,it seems as ever you need to pay alot more cash to have the "edge" in performance!

You'd only want the 4.7 (2008-) rather than the earlier 4.3, if there were ever an all show no go car it was the 4.3 so then you are still looking at 60k+ for the cheapest ones.

+1 ^^^

The 4.7 is much better but to me never felt as fast as it should have been.

I'll keep the RS4 until the CPO warranty ends in July 2013

been 'browsing' or day-dreaming though...the search and anticipation is 1/2 the fun
R8, but not practical enough

perhaps the new S6 w/ V8 twin turbo...420 HP/405 lb ft, should be able to be modded and get 1/2 way to the new S8's 520/480, since a chip/boost should do it

new S8 but 2 years won't be enough depreciation to get to my price point

2007-2008 BMW Alpina 7, new were 125k USD, now with 20k miles 50k USD...but quattro will be hard to give up

:D time will tell

It's suspension setup has come in for a lot of criticism so it muight be faster in a straight line, but where it matters round the twisty bits the SR4 will be faster.
I've test driven the RS5 a couple of times now because I want to like it - you really have to take one out for a good test trip and make the salesman sweat to realise it's a very different car to the RS4.
As Dave has said it doesn't handle in the same way all. Not to write it off completely but just to say the driving experience is very different and not to the better in my book.
It's also a much bigger car and feels it. On a detail note the cheap pressed steel+plastic boot struts really don't say prestige imho.
