Boys and girls; 22B has been in contact with me to ask for suggestions as it appears the Dormouse is no longer big enough to accommodate us all. If we are to converge near York then then a suggestion would be to go a little further and experience the delight which is the A169 between Pickering and Whitby via Saltersgate, Fylingdales and Sleights. It is roughly equidistant between Aberdeen and South London / Croydon both in disance and time and is a spectacular road, one of EVO's test raods and fairly quiet but goes right over the tiop of the North York moors. Some may already know this road and hopefully agree that it is epic.

Caldy and I are investigating pubs on the route that are big enough to accommodate all of us but I'd be interested to know if this is a good idea to all of you. For the ones coming form the North you can meet the Newcastle contingent just North of Newcastle for a stretch and some scran and then head down via the Tyne Tunnel for tunnel running; those form the South can head up to the North and then use the York bypass to get to pIckering and et the added bonus of using the proposed right there and back.

Thoughts?

Jeezy whizz, we are going to the seaside - better bring my bucket & spade & my 8) then...

For me it will be M11 @ Stansted to the A1 & then to junc 44, A64 to Malton & then onto the A169.

Saltersgate is by Hole of Horcum on my map, and looks a good quiet road... :nogarors4:

Did a quck google & came up with the Lion Inn @ Blakey Ridge 6 miles north of Hutton le-Hole (left of Pickering). Seemingly the highest pub on the NY Moors (1325ft) - great views...

Oops I forgot to qualify my attendance on the list - I'm only coming if Mac promises to leave his dayglo orange wheels behind. It took ages to change over to them in the Tiergarten car park last summer. We had to make him watch whilst we did all the work or we'd still be there yet!

Thats a decent pub for food, always full of walkers. Does accomodation but not enough rooms for the amount of people attanding - but do allow camping in field next to it if anybody fancies that :D . Good roads around there, running across to the whitby to pickering roads that P_G mentioned. Can't believe there's gonna be a meet so close to me 4 a change and i might not be able to attend :(

What you are really saying Dave; I won't come unless I put them wheels & sticky tyres on.
