The B7.

If the extent of your driving skills stops at straight lines then yes

Chuck in some country roads and the B7 will deliver a dust sandwich

I doubt your bog standard C5 RS6 would get away from an RS4 and thereafter you are comparing apples with pears, modified C5 against standard B7? Anyone can do that.

Well he must have been packing some serious power is all I can say. My brother has a C5 RS6 with an MRC 525 bhp remap and I can say it didnt feel any quicker than my B7 RS4 it depends what gear you are in . You need to be high up in the revs to keep up and on a bumpy B road the RS6 wouldnt see which way you went.

Also recently I had a drag race against a C6 RS6 avant on the way back from Snetterton all the way through 2nd , 3rd , and 4th and he didnt gain or overtake and the carriageway was empty so if he wanted to he could have. Although later up the road we resumed the race in 5th and he was all over my back side so I would say that at higher speeds the RS6 has an advantage.

I'd hazard a guess it would as the C5 RS6 has sooo much more torque & is likely at worst to still be a full 50BHP more than the B7. Totally agree they're pigs to get round corners unless the suspension has been modified, but more power & alot more torque. Weight would only really become a factor over 100mph.

Anyone got an unmodified C5 and I'll pit my B7 against it to find out.

C5 RS6 Plus was 480bhp, and as the C5 RS6 is turbo it's really easy to tune to 550bhp+

The drag race thing is an interesting point.

I'm not a boy racer but have engaged in a few and have often been surprised that cars which I would have expected to have been specks in my mirror have kept up rather well.

Although the 0-60 time for the RS is pretty good the gap only seems to really open up at higher speeds (where legal of course).

Maybe its my driving although I was neck and neck with a Gallardo until he missed a gear. :bigblink:

Drag racing is boring but some people think it's the best way to tell how fast a car is when it ain't.it's good fun though and I do it at the strip to silence doubters.I came across a few 'fast' cars the other week the only time i seen them is when I looked back :).I've yet to track my b7 I can't wait to

calling Arthur

Post by bam_bam » Sat Apr 16, 2011 9:34 am

The only time Arthur and his infernal MathLab could actually prove useful and not a whisper! FFS - will someone mention the "C" word to get him on this thread?

Here's a another facet. Which car do you think will age better?
Let's assume both cars are owned by the same person, both driven to 100k miles and serviced by the book at Camberley.
The end test? Both cars line up for a best of three timed drag.
Sport mode, same driver (assumed B7 hardened) revs loaded to 3,500 - 4000k, ESP off - 1/4 mile.

Results...
