yes, revs limited to 7000rpm until engine oil temp exceeds 60 degrees
No so - the message is a warning but the manual says that you can rev past this.

A rev limit is not that useful as you can do as much damage using full throttle at low revs.

Nope.

You will hit the limiter at 7000....just like you do at 7000 in top.

Hi.

The tracker is by Box Telematics. If anyone needs the number for the guy i dealt with just PM me.

I've raised the concern with Audi UK and will be sending an email to the Head of Business of that dealership with the tracker print out. I've been with Audi for best part of 8years and if thats how they every other car then its just plain wrong! It was NOT given in to be joy ridden like that.
I'm just disappointed with the fact that it was driven in that manner when it was cold! And to drive at those speeds on a road which has a school on it... its unacceptable. It IS a 30mph residential road where in just 2009 an elderly gentleman was killed by a speeding car... The exact location of 57mph reading is that exact junction believe it or not.
I let my car idle down to where it should be in the mornings before driving away.. then drive below 3000rpm until the 7000rpm marker is gone and coolant temp is where it should be... whether its right or wrong i feel comfortable with it like that and feel i'm looking after my car better.

Harsh acceleration is triggered when its full pedal to metal and looking at the roads he/she drove on they cant have used the top gears... so they must've been revving up high because 1st 2nd gear rev up very quickly through the rev range.

thanks for the info
while I was at it I check the Tracker website, and it appears as if they have a system that actually does combine VHF with GPS/GSM
it's called Tracker "locate", and it costs £462 with a £174/year subscription --- not sure if it offers immobilisation or live tracking though

has anyone tried this one?

Thats what I was banging on about on the other tracker thread.
It's the only one thats as near to jammer proof as you'll get.

No live tracking and no immobilisation.

However if you are a corporate (fleet and diggers) customer then you can combine fleet tracking with the tracking facilities but costs more.

If you just want tracking via web then plenty of 50 quid chinese gps/gsm units that work fine and just the extra cost of a data only sim card.

All remote immobilisation trackers I've seen/taken apart (and personally I've lost count at a 100) use GSM to receive the command - as with GPS this is childs play (just found a jammer for 61p on ebay) to block so you can't rely on it or assume every thief is stupid.

My Tracker has GPS/GSM and remote tracking. But I don't think Tracker do it anymore more for some reason. Must be because it's <beep>!

Interesting.
Seems to me the best way to go is the top spec tracker (VHF+gps) and possibly one of those cheap gps only units for live tracking
