Don't look at an RS5 then. Even the standard A/S5 rear bench is small and a driver over 5'10" will have your legs off with the seat if you sit behind them. Believe it or not, the rear leg room in them is worse than the RS4 with buckets and then you also have cramped head height in it.

PG, we live in the same location,

i think one of the problems i have is, i think the RS4 is so good, and its difficult to get a car that is actually better, iv had my car from new and im just board, and need a new start, all cars have a compromise somewhere. and your right about the rear leg room.

So looking on fastestlaps.com the RS5 on the three tracks that these 2 have been on is a maximum of 0.7 of a second quicker than the RS4. Just nails for me the fact that at this stage it is not worth the extra £40-50K. Better suspension, exhaust and remap would get that back no problem and still have £30-40k in my pocket.

RS4george, I too sometimes think the car is a little slow and have to be reintorduced to it after driving the wifes A2 to appreciate how good it is. But now I have a non res valved with x-pipe exhaust I just love the performance and sense of occassion.

At this stage I am hoping the RS3 Sportback makes an appearance, other wise it'll have to be a c6 RS6 saloon as an upgrade unless I can convince the other half to have a family car whilst I have an R8 V10 spyder!

I have never been so disappointed in a car as I was in my mates R8 the suspension was rock hard and the auto gearbox was one one the worse I have experienced at low speed.

More importantly where does my beloved dog go?

Compared with my wife's S3 the RS4 is like a Jaguar with its suspension.

Regrettably, I think the B7 RS4 was bright flash in an otherwise dull Audi pan. Putting the R8 aside (for practicality & price reasons), there's nothing in the range that flips my switch (although the A8 they leant me while the DRC was being fixed was nice! ) They're just not FUN to drive.

Once my car goes I can't see the replacement being another Audi. Pity. Thought it was a New Beginning.

Yeah - ditto. I was looking at other cars as I'd forgotten how good the B7 RS4 is.
I hadn't considered the RS5 as the standard A5 is more like a 2+2 than a 4 seat coupe and I needed proper seats. But surprised the universal slamming the RS5 is getting in the press - I've not seen one decent review that doesn't compare it to the RS4 and shrug.

Latest EVO dropped thru the door this morning

4 way test between RS5 - M3 competition - Lexus IS-F & C63
On road plus a track based test at the palmerdrome near bedford

this sums up the RS5 on road review

Its chassis marks a return to the bad old days of fast Audis: too hard with zero steering feel
Dynamically its as though they've forgotten they ever made the RS4 & R8

Track based it was the fastest around the circuit.....just

Just when we thought Audi had learnt how to setup the ride and handling of a car.

It's a real shame that they've lost their way again, sounds like a business opportunity for the ride & handling experts at Lotus Engineering to teach them how to do it.
