So I've ordered a brand new S3 for delivery in 10-12 weeks giving me enough time to sell my car in a private sale, the best PX deal I was offered in the end was £24000 for my car and £1000 off the new cars list price.

Spec:

2006 RS4 Sprint Blue
1 previous owner
DVD nav plus
6 CD
Adaptive xenon lights
Phone prep in armrest with MF wheel (Have FBSW available also)
58,000 miles with FSH next service due in 9500 miles / 300 days

Recent Pzero tyres with at least 5mm all round, New discs and pads in the last 1000 miles and new oil cooler and pipes also in last 1000 miles.

The condition of this car is outstanding, having looked at a lot of these when buying it has no dents or dings and has never seen any paint.

I have a forum member after the car but if that falls through I'll be advertising at £25500 ono I think - thoughts?

Seems like a good offer from the dealer, 24grand plus a grand of the list price.
Is it really worth trying to sell it privately?
Good luck with the S3, what spec did you go for?

Have an S3 Sportback and like it a lot. Have the other gearbox but that's personal. Open Sky is really worth having but I am surprised you have not added magnetic ride. Worth a thought?

Mag ride is a system of adaptive dampers that respond to different road conditions. Basically they give a soft ride but hard cornering. There are two settings to choose from but it is always on. Have it on a TT and an S3. Its standard fit on the TTS, 599 and 612 and just about all R8s and TTRSs have it. Its a bit of a hidden secret in the options list for TT, A3 and R8 but is a gem.

Sorry, I know what it is I've just never heard of anyone having it to quiz!

So where do you live?

How does it cope with speedbumps / potholes / poor surfaces?

How is it on motorways?

How is it on A roads?

Is it firmer or softer or just the same as standard on normal roads / driving?

I'll buy it if it makes sense just never looked into it really ;-)

Hard to say but I love it. Live in rural Scotland but use all types of road. With any car I buy I always go for adaptive dampers when available. They cope well with road imperfections but firm up well in corners and you can always hit the button to make them firmer all the time for a blast. Remember your RS4 has a form of adaptive dampers with DRC and everyone says it rides better than the B6/B7 S4.

I tried to sell my RS4 but in the end I couldn't do it, it made me realise what a really special car it is, one we'll never see the likes of again.
