Now, if your Mrs had accidently changed from 5th to 2nd at 80 mph, and let the clutch up, then yes the engine would have "revved its nuts off" and gone into meltdown and shown "over revs" as a fault code
S3 2.0 Not sure why this is in the B7 RS4 forum, but clearly there is something about this case.

Should all high revving engines be "auto" as in the RS5?

Just realised RS4 B7 is high revving and manual :) - has anyone had this sort of issue with an RS4?

Update..

The S3 is still in with the Stealer, waiting for New Head!!! Cost 3K...

Now having problems with the B7 RS4 Avant, firstly the lacquar is peeling on the front wing, I took it to the stealer considering the car was coming up to 3 years old and got them to
look at it, no stone chips etc just a 15mm x 15mm patch ...

Audi have responded saying that as the car is coming up to 3 years old they will not do a goodwill repair. Does this mean the paint warranty is 2 years and 350 days rather than 3 years??
The stealer was that enbarrassed they has said they will do a goodwill repair.....Let see.

Also the DRC has started playing up, another visit to the stealer followed by the need for 1 new DRC on the front offside. This was fitted last week, but yes you've guest it the nearside rear is US.
Why won't Audi just replace the lot, its obviously an inherent problem.

Booked in again for Tomorrow..... I've started having nightmares about Audi!!

Peeling lacquer is a persistent issue for me with my car after the front bumper was replaced after a head on collision 2 years ago. It has been in 4 times to have it resprayed at the Aud franchise bodyshop and it has just started peeling again. They have had the paint manufacturer out three times to take paint samples and tried different spraying techniques and solvent concentrations and I thought they had cracked it this time but low and behold at the weekend it peeled, a 4cm square patch with no stone chips.

Mine has always been done under paint defect warranty as it does not happen anywhere else on the car but the cost is having to put up with one of their 1.0L Polo's every time!
