What boxster? hahaha, no comparison at all. I've driven mways, twisties, round town and it just wipes the floor with anything i've ever driven in the past.

Not even had a pull from the boys in blue over the windows (yet)

will be in touch next week, haven't had time to get the changer sorted yet, january is a busy month for us tax geeks...

I miss mine... wrote it off Sept last year and got all my money back.

Tried driving for the first time yesterday (broke legs etc etc) and it was fine.

Loads of blokes suggesting what I should buy next but I'm hankering after another RS4 - this time an avant. Going to see it Monday :D

I wasn't missing it until I saw this:

Why does the sight of your old car for sale always bring about the same feelings?
I just want to buy it again, go for good old hoon and say I'm sorry.

Right, as promised a quick review of the new gen 2 M3 V8. (Gen 2 i.e. new I-drive, paddle shift, updated rear and headlights etc).

Had it two weeks and I have to say it is really growing on me. Both Rob and I sold our RS4's last autumn. I went for the M3, simply because it was the closest thing to an RS4 I could find. Rob is still yet to decide on his new wheels - suggestions welcome!

The car: I got a saloon in Silverstone. It is a good looking motor and more aggressive looking than the RS4, although the interior is not quite Audi quality - but its pretty good. The finishing touches are good, lit door handles on entry and the like. The I drive is very good with a hard drive you can store your music on. The sat nav is positioned in a more sensible place as well. So all in all, very good ergonomics, such as more rear seat room, without being anything to jump up and down about. If the RS4 was updated in a similar fashion, the RS4 would win it on quality, the BMW on ergonomics.

The drive. The DCT box make the car. The power is about the same as the RS but the box makes it faster and less jerky. In a drag race it would win due to the seamless gear changes. Also, it feels lighter than the RS by a few 100kg. The steering is more consistent and the brakes smooth. So handling is a good bit better than my RS, which had the lowered sports suspension. I reckon on a 1.30 basic track, we are talking 2 seconds or so.

But, I have say that I miss that more muscular V8 of the Miltek exhaust. The RS was more muscle, the M3 is more race car. General driving is less of an event. But you can push it easier.

For those of you thinking what to get next, the M3 is a great car and a step up from the RS4 in many driving respects. It is very close to the RS4 though overall, which is exactly what I wanted.

Bring on the RS5! :D
