I'll agree with that - felt like I had spikes on with the grip I was getting in the snow!

They may not have the ultimate grip and higher road noise levels compared to F1's but the compromise of that against snow performance has partially swayed me to getting another set. Winter tyres are a possibility but for how little I would use them currently in the UK Sessanta's broader spectrum of performance may be the best solution.

I took the plunge this year and got some winter tyres (and spare wheels!), have to say the difference in any kind of snow or wet icy etc conditions the difference is huge ( Sessanta Wintrac and Ultrac?).

Obviously there's the initial outlay, but when you've one set on then you're not wearing down the others, obviously!
Helps that I got a bargain on some second hand wheels as well.... Of course we probably won't get any more snow for the next 5yrs now!

No chance of that, having trouble hiding the 3 sets of front discs at my house and she already thinks I am slowly rebuilding the car with all the stuff I buy for it! Sessanta's it is then.

I would have thought worth having then. would be interested however to know how PS2 tyres faired in the snow.

I am a great fan of both the F1's and the Vredestein's but my own experience in the Alpine snow - and it applies to both my RS4 and A3 - is that they are nigh on useless compared to a proper winter tyre.

It may be mine were inflated too high (41/39) in preference for the better economy on the Autoroute but when you see what difference a proper winter tyre makes, it is amazing.

I had a C2S go past me in the RS4 like I was going backwards.

Similarly, in the A3, I had a couple of Twingos go past me even faster...they are unbelievable how fast they go in the snow!

After this winter, I'll be using a winter tyre in future on a spare set of rims.

The Vredesteins were not as good at high pressures. Mine were running 37 front 34 rear and the grip was better than what I normally have them at 40/36
