It wont. All rs4s are in warranty.
RMS did not effect Porsche sales/resale values. Even now Porsche offer goodwill gestures on rms even when out of warranty, as well they should.
If we all go through with what is suggested earlier it will protect everyone.

Since reading this thread I'm sure my cab is crashing over uneven surfaces - just had the wheels balanced, but no difference.

Sorry to ask a stupid question - is it just a matter of looking between wheel and arch? Or am I missing something?

Front shocks and rear suspension valves replaced at 10K miles. Teesside Audi said updated shocks have been fitted and no known problems with these.Lets hope so.

How come? I thought the first cars arrived in 2006. 3 years warranty should take you to 2009.

Could you all have a look and edit/add what you think. Just a quick one to get the ball rolling. Thanks.
Dear Sir
Re Audi B7 RS4 Reg No ...........
I purchased the above car from xyz Audi on aa/bb/cc. The car was registered on aa/bb/cc. On aa/bb/cc with 1234 miles on the odometer my car developed a knocking sound from the front/rear suspension, the problem was diagnosed as a leaking shock absorber and failure was attributed to the DRC valve system. A group of fellow enthusiasts and me recently conducted a poll on a well known Audi RS public forum, a copy of which is enclosed where we asked how many owners have had their shock absorbers replaced. To our shock (excuse the pun)22 out of 46 contributors have had their shock absorbers replaced, this means that 47.8% of cars have experienced failure. I would like firm answers in writing to the following questions as I would like to protect myself against expense out of warranty and protection against potential loss in residual value due to faulty parts and the public’s perception of the car being unreliable.
1) Are all shock absorbers being fitted now updated versions from the original that eliminate the leaking problem?
2) What date were the updated parts made available to UK dealers?
3) Do replacement shock absorbers carry the Audi 3 year warranty from the time they were fitted?
4) If the replacement shock absorbers are not updated versions that eliminate the problem do Audi think this is reasonable given such a high level of failures?
5) Are Audi confident that these shock absorbers are being fitted correctly by the dealers?
6) What is the exact problem that causes failures in around 50% of cars fitted with DRC?
7) What is the exact procedure for fitting shock absorbers when a leak occurs?
8) Should all four shock absorbers be replaced or just the faulty absorber and its apposing axle?
9) Do Audi think a recall would be more appropriate given the seriousness of where the faults are occurring?
I understand that the DRC was fitted to the RS6 and this car experienced very similar problems and I am extremely concerned with regard to quality issues as apart from problems with the shock absorbers and the DRC system I have had the following issues with my car.
List.......
In addition to the above points and assuming that the replacement parts fitted when a shock absorber leaks are not improvements I would like confirmation from Audi that the replacement part will be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty for 3years or 60000 miles from the date that the part was fitted and an assurance from Audi that should a part become available that eradicates the faults and problems associated with the current generation DRC system that it will be fitted free of charge to my car.
Yours Faithfully

Good, but to be honest I dont think they will have any of it to be honest. We are in a lose lose really...........if we go to the press and it becomes a large issue, then the publics perception will be that they are unreliable and therefore reduce residuals (as previously stated), and if we dont do anything then we all still have the possible cost if they go wrong after the warranty expires. Also, there is the cost implication to a possible legal battle (if it gets that far). I personally dont have deep enough pockets for that (yet).

All things to think about.

All that said, i am still pretty naive with this sort of thing so if someone could enlighten me...................

I understand your concerns but I do not intend to have to go legal as its not a threatening letter it is just asking answers to reasonable questions. You never know Audi may do the correct thing and suprise us all. It would be a very good PR excersise from their point of view and minimal cost in the scheme of things. On the one hand they could play the odds and on the other they could say okay your right lets do something about it. We dont have to do anything other than inform them of the problem in mass.

I think you're on the right track with what you've written so far. I think it could do with a few minor alterations but it's pretty much spot on otherwise (IMO). I know a few professional copywriters and would be happy to run it by them. I *may* also look into getting a solicitor friend to give the final result the once-over (not to be confused with "going legal," which in itself should not automatically be deemed an aggressive act). No promises but If you guys can give me a few days I will see what I can do.

On a related note, the head tech at my local dealer is a decent guy and is coming out to look at my car next week (for the shocks - again - and also a creaky driver seat).

That would be really good, thanks. It is really a first draft and I had to do it during a quick lunch, I dont even know how I got the smiley face in?? (not intentional). I dont really want it to sound as though its comming from a solicitor I want it to be from who it is! a bunch of enthusiasts who want to get it bottomed to protect their investment and from that perspective I think it needs keeping as organic as possible but any tweaks or if anyone feels we need to add or take away then just go for it.
The only thing that concerns me is that the people who have contributed to the thread dont want to finish it off and if thats the case we will all be wasting each others time. I dont want to force people into this but I do need to know if I am the only person sending a letter. For reference purposes and when chasing up the letter we all need to know who has actually sent one so we can quote numbers to Audi. If no response is forthcoming then nothing is lost and we had a go. If they decide we have a point (which given the facts they could not deny) then we may all get a bit more security, it could even have the effect of firming up resale values as it is one less thing to worry about. :)
So before Rich gets any colleagues on the case could we have a show of hands from the people who voted in the "yes" part of the poll please. Just reply to the post saying "Im in". Thanks.
PS please dont feel that I am trying to pressurise people and I understand that we all have jobs to do. Thanks :)
