Sorry to read all of this, liked the pics of the car that originally started the fruitless argument.

Hi Guys

This thread has just been bought to my attention. as you all know i have been taking a back seat of late, and really hoping that the site self moderated it self.
Obviously this is not the case, when i first started this website one of the main reasons for doing so was that other sites were almost run in a dynastic fashion, somthing i never wanted to happen on here. The site is supposed to be fun, and if you want to come here and use it then please take your arguements off the board and do it in the PM section or even e-mail. I do hope that S4TAN and GrahamS4 will continue to use the site as both are valued contributors to RS246.
I cant see a problem with someone saying that they have had great service from anyone and letting people know, but when it becomes a blantant advertising campaign for said party then the crew take steps to put advertising packages in place. RS Trade status is somthing that can be obtained for a very small amount of money, it benefits the site, and also benefits the user too. We do have some detailing firms on our books and from there point of view its only fair if they are paying then other firms or individuals do the same.
I am at present no going to lock this thread as i hope we can all get back on track and start to enjoy the site once more.

Cheers
Jr

Well put John though it is clear this thread was never blatant advertising, simply someone saying that they have had great service and letting people know who did it as you said in your own words.

I appreciate mods have a tough job trying to maintain standards on a site but there are ways and means of going about this. It’s just a shame that one on here come across as rude and arrogant and it’s clearly not just me who thinks this.

If I may say so that's fair comment in my book JR. Certainly not the frying pan into the fire comment I thought I might read. I think it was a different Graham that Julian referred to as also "leaving", I didn't say that, only stated what I thought. I knew it would not do me any favours, but really thought it was a point worth noting in this case. I believe both points have now been clearly made and I have to say, the polite approach was so much better, not just nicer but actually communicates the message better too.

I have learnt a lot through experience moderating elsewhere and sometimes, very occassionally, what I see here reminds me of mistakes I have previously made. Heat of the moment moderating does not work!

We have a joke in the team I am in that we should ban all members who threaten to "resign" - well it's good to know not here, Julian (S4TAN) is a good guy and I am sure his craving for modifying will see him back!

JR

I suggest you look again at the make-up of the crew...Some of the comments from members of the 'crew' are unwarrented and outside of the normal responses from a moderator. A softer touch might be more applicable (much like Phil's and David's tone when dealing with problems/issues).

As for Julian....good riddance ;)

I think the show plates fitted to the car over stepped the line here.

Nice looking, very clean car. Would have looked better with it's normal plates just blanked if you want to hide your identity. IMO

Does it matter?

Co.'s like that may put their advert plates on so that they can advertise what cars they've done on their own website and protect their customers identity.

That's totally the point. The plate on that car on this site is an advert.

Cheers John, you've restored my faith in RS246 with that well balanced response.

I realise that, however if it were the case that they were not using it for their own purposes i.e. their own website and it was intentionally done to advertise on this site I could understand everyone's concerns.

However if they did post these pics on their own site and then the car's owner uses the same pictures on here you would be asking them to take a separate set of pictures to put on here to comply with the forums regulations? I personally wouldn't have 2 camera's incase I violated a forums advertising policy because until now it would not cross my mind.

It is a simple if naive error surely?

The car looks damn good, I like the darker wheels with the Daytona. Did it need any machine polishing to get the final finish? Not a bad price if it did.

Oh, and blatant advertising, or blatant recommending?

If you look at their website - you can see the plates of other cars they have done, whether UK or foreign.

Fair enough, I had not had a look at their site unless it is new policy.
