The 'bogy' from 1st to 2nd is the traction control just cutting in for a fraction. Try pressing the ESP button and hey presto, the 'bog' bogs off ;@)SimonFV8 wrote:Persuading my wife that an RS4 was the right 'family' car was hard enough and the only way i managed to do this was by getting the Avant under the 'practical car' avenue! The Saloons are even quicker, so i support your point fully.
Glad you agree with what I have said yes I will get a Miltek and a re-map but only because I can! The only very slight issue I have is redline in first go to second and for a split second I find it a bit 'bogy' which I am assured will be cured with the re-map.
Interestingly the re-map was recommended by head tech at my Audi dealer and Miltek is being done at Audi, by him!
RS 4 Slow???
Re: RE: RS 4 Slow???
Deja Vu anyone???The general consensus is that the traction control system is responsible for the shift behaviour between 1st and 2nd.
Turn it off (one short press) and it goes away.
I'm sure the "remap guys" will tell you whether or not their remaps have addressed this rather aggressive (or conservative, depending on how you look at it) power-cutting behaviour by the car's electronics.
Its one of my minor issues with the car but with the option to turn it off, I can cope with that.
Current car..... hmmmmm????

All you guys mention about the car not loosening up for about 10k or so. I've had Audi's for over 17 years and my experience (and many other Audi enthusiasts I know) is that their engines don't really loosen up until way past 50k. So IMHO they will keep getting better and better.
Chances are though, most of you will have sold your cars by then and the next owners will start getting the best out of it. Anyone want to sell me their's in a couple of years.

There does appear to be three marked stages of performance improvement in the V8 units, one at 10K miles, the second at around 20K miles and then at 50k miles. Fuel economy also increases as time goes by.
I'm just curious to know how long these tuned V8 units are built to last as there are varying figures around?

Didn't Audi get into bed with ABT Sportsline for a while? I thought they did the work at the Audi centres? I *think* they even accepted it as far as the warranty was concerned. IIRC of course.SimonFV8 wrote:I think Audi are missing a trick here - Look at all the threads on re-maps, Milteks, mods etc etc. The dealers could make a killing if they offered an upgrade for this sort of stuff and as it is carried out by Audi Tech's warranty is all ok.
IMHO I would go to my dealer everyday over a third party even if it was more expensive, just for 'piece of mind'
I know my dealer encourages mods to be done there as it makes money!
we all know this engine gets horse power as you drive it.SimonFV8 wrote:Sunshine - you have a pm
at 2000 miles was dynoed at 383 hp.
at 4000 miles was dynoed at 392 hp.
at 7000 miles was dynoed at 402 hp.
on Nov 29th I go at JD engeneering to make the motronic rebiew and it i have today 9400 miles and by then probably about 10000 miles... we will see maybe it reaches 410hp. will not be a direct comparasion as it is a different dyno...
but at least i have had proof that it does keep getting Hp after initial 1000-1500 miles.... I also got told by AUDI inside people that AUDI deliberately have made the deciison to put the engines with pistons very tight inside for engine to have a long life (min 125000 Miles), and this is because a high rev engine is hurt more than others hence by doing this they enlarge the total life of the engine. makes complete sense

Well, in regular driving, the RS4 does feel like 4cylinder 2.0T. Only with less torque. On of the most muscular engine I tried recently, was the BMW twin turbo 3.0 diesel, now that thing pulled like an old steam locomotive. To bad diesels run out of breath after 4000rpm, however in daily driving that kind of engine will be amazing.simmo wrote:I'm sooooo disappointed. Yes its a 'special' option vary hard to find and only avalable to Russians or was it Canadians!
Long story from a previous thread!
Have you been eating the same space cake i've been devouring in Amsterdam?? The RS4 feels like a 4-pot 2.0T????RussianM3_dude wrote:Well, in regular driving, the RS4 does feel like 4cylinder 2.0T. I had a small amount of sympathy for your un investigated purchase, but now i just feel you're retarded.
I had a 535D M-Sport (DMS'd) & although it felt very quick, it was far from the same quick of the M5 or RS4 so comparing to a 2.0T (of which i've owned a couple) is bordering on insanity.
You sure you didn't but an A4 S-Line with RS4 badges??

Well i have moved from a remaped V10 5.0L Touareg with 850 NM of Torque and I would rather have the pull of by 4 cylinder RS4 anyday!RussianM3_dude wrote:Well, in regular driving, the RS4 does feel like 4cylinder 2.0T. Anyway your in Switzerland correct? Where you are not allowed to chip / remap/ tune / lower etc your car and if you do its off to the crusher?
Probably why your RS4 is a rebadged 2.0T A4

Wow, I hadn't realised it would have made those sort of differences. Although my bum dyno tells me the car is much quicker now.youry wrote:we all know this engine gets horse power as you drive it.

I took my old S3 out for a spin round the country for the first time since I bought the RS4. Back then I was a little dissapointed the the RS4 didn't feel noticable faster. Now, with 2500 miles on the RS4, its a comparative monster.
