Phone's that are compatable with Audi....
Surprise surprise, the Samsung Omnia does not work full with the Audi Bluetooth.
As per N95 ir can make/receive calls, but no phonebook or call history etc.
Anyone any idea if an application exists for Samsung i could try? (kinda doubt it myself).

The Omnia is a Windows Mobile 6.1 based device, so i guess as much PDA as it is a phone & it seems these sort of devices are the ones Audi BT doesn't really like.
My car has the earlier Module/software being fitted aftermarket in Aug 2007. Can live without the Phonebook etc, just kinda hoped that moving from the N95 i may get full functionality with the Omnia.

Many are not though. The compatibility list from Audi kind of shows that PDA style phones are far less likely to be fully compatible, along with Nokia N-Series etc. Most basic handsets appear to work fully. May well be that the Omnia does work with the newer BT module.PetrolDave wrote:It's not a WM6.1 issue - I use my HTC TyTn II with WM6.1 ROM upgrade with my Audi BT kit and it's 100% compatible.W8PMC wrote:The Omnia is a Windows Mobile 6.1 based device, so i guess as much PDA as it is a phone & it seems these sort of devices are the ones Audi BT doesn't really like.

If you want a list of compatible phones compiled by user (who have actually tried them with the Audi BT kit) then look at the list on www.navplus.usW8PMC wrote:Many are not though. I think you'll be surprised just how many PDA style phones ARE compatible and how many basic phones are NOT compatible - it's not that simple.
I eat my hat & i'm still in shock.
Little tale, i'm heading into Bradford yesterday for a meeting with my new Samsung Omnia linked up via Bluetooth as normal when a call comes in (had a few calls over the 10 days i've had the phone), but i see my bosses name displayed on my DIS so me thinking WTF, answered the call & proceeded with my conversation. End of the call i rapidly hit the phone button on RNS-E, only to find full functionality is now available, Phonebook, Dialled/Missed/Recieved calls etc. so the new Samsung Omnia has full functionality with the original RNS-E BT Module
It even displays contacts in the correct order & with M, H or W displayed after to show Mobile, Home or Work.
To say i was happy is an understatement. A tad confused why it has suddenly offered up full functionality after 10 days of just make/receive calls. Saying that i've not spent longer than 10mins in the car so perhaps it just needed to be hooked up for a longer spell to fully synchronise.
As a slight aside, is the number of contacts able to be displayed limited? I have about 500 contacts on my phone but only A through N are displayed on the car's phonebook so i guess it has a 200 entry maximum???

That's the reason - when the phonebook is initally being transferred it can take quite a long time - 10 minutes isn't long enough.W8PMC wrote:Saying that i've not spent longer than 10mins in the car so perhaps it just needed to be hooked up for a longer spell to fully synchronise.
Now it's been copied, it's only changes that get sent now, so that's much quicker.
Yes there is a limit - can't remember it being included in any Audi manuals though!W8PMC wrote:As a slight aside, is the number of contacts able to be displayed limited? To balance the thread somewhat from technical discussions, May a thicky ask a question.
Is the RS6 RNS-E unit the same as in the B7 RS4? If so, am I right in thinking there is no phone option at all, unless you have the wired kit, without an after market BT upgrade?

RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

To use a phone with the RNS-E, you need the Bluetooth upgrade (module), whether it be the B7 or C5?
Unless like you say, its an aftermarket kit (parrot) integrated with the RNS-E

All still working fine & i've even lost that awful revurb that i sometimes used to get with the N95 when making calls.PetrolDave wrote:That's the reason - when the phonebook is initally being transferred it can take quite a long time - 10 minutes isn't long enough.W8PMC wrote:Saying that i've not spent longer than 10mins in the car so perhaps it just needed to be hooked up for a longer spell to fully synchronise.

Still somewhat stumped by the number of contacts available to view (i.e. the BT Module/RNS-E can handle) as although i dumped about 300 from my Omnia phonebook (saved them in a seperate Outlook directory), so i've about 195 left, however is the limit (whatever that may me) actual contacts or numbers? as some of the remaining contacts have H/M/W phone numbers, so although i've only got about 195 contacts, i've still got 250+ numbers & having counted through the RNS-E phonebook display is is showing all 250 numbers.
Anyone know the limit & if the limit is numbers or contacts?
