I have the standard RS4 Valcona Buckets in mine, i find them superbly comfortable on both short/long journeys, playing with the lumber support had allowed me to find the perfect position.
However, i have from reading on this site been careful not to drag my ass over the right bottom pad on entry/exit to avoid over wear on the pad, but on the actual seat itself, my arse marks are imprinted! im 5"11 and 11 stone, so hardly massive, but am a little distressed by the speed the seats have imprinted. Ive only covered 2500 miles roughly now.
On Order: Audi RS5 4.2 V8 Est 450bhp? 08/09?

Bmw 335d Coupe 56/06 & Merc S320 L CDI 56/06

Previous: Audi RS4 B7 06, Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, All the E46's.. Coupe/Cab/Saloon.

TO be honest I am struggling. I had originally ordered Recaros but picked up a cancelled order at the end of July which came with standard bucket seats. Unfortunately my original choice was the correct one.

I am 5"11 and 17 stone, an ex rugby player. I think that weight alone is not the only factor, but more "shape". I have done 1200 miles, mainly in 1-1.5 hour stints driving to and from my office. The problem I find is the seat sides (rather than the seat back itself) digging into my thighs, which becomes uncomfortable after about 45 minutes. I have always had "footballer's thighs" (or in my case rugby) so in all honesty losing the stone (or more) that I probably need to will not solve the problem.

I am in a quandry because the car is so good - I am prepared to forgive it the seats because I enjoy it in all other respects. My only option would seem to be to sell/trade-in the car for one with Recaros.

Anybody know of any avants with Recaros sitting on forecourts??!!

M80EUF you are exactely right, losing weight is not the answer as some people have helpfully mentioned, if you are the wrong shape as in having big thighs then the seats don't work.

You problem is also mine, I have a few people looking in to what can be done by means of exchange (and I don't mean the seats exsp at £6,500 a pair + vat).

I have found a solution - sell my July 2006 Avant back to a dealer (at a small loss, unfortunately) and put a deposit down for another one with very similar spec, but with nice comfortable Recaros. It was a fairly painless process - ring a few buyers on Thursday, secure the best bid, car picked up on Friday, company cheque banked by close of business.

Now I just have to wait for my Week 39 build date to come around..........

BTW yet again with a few phone calls I came across 5 physical/near physical Avants available, though only one with "fat-boy" seats!

May I ask what that whole process cost you to change

I had bids ranging from £49kto £52k for a car with 1200 miles and a list price of 54350 ish. So the cost was 4.5%, which is not too bad really. I could of course have tried to sell privately but would have run the risk of fraud, scams etc. I also looked at using an "agent" to sell it for me but they would have demanded a commission. As it was the whole deal was done in 24hrs. Call me mad but I always try and sell back to large dealer groups as the whole process in my experience is safe and painless.

Unfortunately selling a car for this sort of money is not the same as flogging a £5k Golf in Autotrader.

I suppose you cant grumble at 4.5% replacing seats would have been far more expensive.
