Any news on the supercharged RS4 Plus yet?
Dace, We are talking about both cars being in standard form which they have proven that the B7 is quicker, better handling, better ride.
I do however agree that once you start spending more money on the B5's they can be quicker.
And yes there are going to be more B7's than B5's but thats because they appeal to a wider audience being that they are not just produced in estate form.
Not being offensive but they are getting on a bit now but they are still a cracking car.

What a daft discussion............
Fact- the stopwatch does not lie and the B7 is a faster car than that it replaced the B5 assuming both are standard cars and looking at some peoples signatures 'B5 Stage 111' can hardly be described as standard.
fact- take two cars with identical bhp figures and identical performance figures time wise but one is turbo charged the other not and the turbo car will allways FEEL faster. This is due to the way the power is produced in the turbo car and is felt when the turbo cuts in giving the 'boost' of acceleration and fooling driver/passenger into FEELING its faster.
Nobody here is having a go at the B5, its a great car, but its widely accepted that the new RS4 is superior in every way to the old model as a car straight from the factory.

OK, drove both cars back to back this afternoon, down the same roads and in the same weather conditions. My B7 has 700 odd miles on the clock, and I have to say it is very rapid even though I was not giving it full bananas..( once you hit 5K rpm it just wants to go but I was changing gear at this point... the B5 on the other hand, feels better on the road, but it does have additionally wide tyres, and extra 60 bhp and uprated brakes... but I was having to pedal it much harder to achieve the speeds I was easily getting in the B7. In sheer terms of fun, the B5 is unbeatable, but I have driven the car for five and half years and know it well, the B7 on the other hand is a little unstable under heavy breaking but you can carry more corner speed in it....... Hard to know which one to take out now, both very rapid, both make a nice noise, the B5 has 200 cels and Miltek, but the V8 wine is also adictive... just have to go out and drive them both again.... and again ... and again.....
Have to say that the B5 gets all the looks, most people are not really aware what the B7 is, even with the bling mirrors.

4 B5's for sale on Audi website. 25 B7's
3 B5's for sale on Autotrader website. 42 B7's
Limited numbers they aint. I had the opportunity to buy a B7 or a nearly new RS6+. Same money, but I went for the RS6. They're very different cars I know, but I'm personally not in it to take it to the limit around corners on british roads especially without I.AM membership. I like the rarity of it, and that I can blast past a line of traffic with total confidence and more capability than practically anything else on the road, B7 included. And yes I can tune it too... Having said all that, if I could buy any other car for 50 odd grand, it would be a B7! So splitting hairs really.
Slopes off to RS6 forum...

That is this year...and already close to total build of B5 over two year period....rest assured. Audi will give the B7 the same treatment as the TT, build as many as you can sell.... remember the TT was originally only going to be limited production run of 5000 of each type..........thats more like 5,000,000 in todays money...

Interesting...... Bobjebb... On the Autotrader website I'm surprised you found any B5 RS4s....I don’t recall Audi making a B5 RS4 saloon....!
But if you search for an RS4 Avant there's a different story.... 27 B5's for sale on Autotrader website. 2 B7's...!
Sorry to be pedantic.........

Daytona RS4 Avant - Getting better by the day...
What exactly has that got to do with your assertion that the B5 is the better/faster car which its not??dace wrote:Take note teambwr47....and this is from a man that DOES have experience of both cars.startrek wrote:I agree, sold my B7 for a number of reasons, one of them being production numbers(toooo many) and the depreciation was starting to hit home
Enough said.
Take note about what exactly???
Should i cancel my plans for a new B7 and instead go out and look for a second hand, possibly modded, now out of date B5 instead?
Not a chance and i would hazard a guess that most in the market for RS4 who have the money will be going for the B7.
The bit about production number being to high and depreciation well welcome to owning a car.
I'm the chilled out one especially with the drugs i'm taking at the moment due to some recent injuries.....lolsimple1 wrote:T as in time out.... as they say in Somerset, take a chill pill fella... oh ah... no need to get heated, idea of a forum is to discuss the merits and shortfalls of the cars, not get upset...
