I'm sure i read somewhere that the specialist outfit that Audi gets to build/assemble RS versions does have a limited capacity.

That does'nt really mean anything. No facility has unlimited capacity.

Well it is limited in my opinion, limited by how many they can build at a time.. rememeber they are all hand assembled mostly, the numbers in the other posts show that the quantity produced is limited, but not as limited as the B5 RS4, The R32 was limited in my opinion also, only just over 2000 cars for the UK.

Hardly see any about to be honest.... the new RS4 will be the same.... you wont find many on the roads compared to a M3 for instance, or a Audi S4.

Its all about how you look at it.

Riz, that makes no sense. Everything is limited by how many you can make at one time. This includes Big Macs, they are hardly exclusive.

Compared to how many M3s on the street now, of course not! The M3 has been in production for over four years!!

OK its a handbuilt car, the leather has been rubbed down by naked virgins, only 5 to be built and the value will increase by 10% every year. Oh and Gordon Brown says you won't have to pay tax on that 10%

Have a nice weekend mate :D

Matt
Whats unfair about his question? Its straight and on topic.

Yep...couldn't have put it any better myself....

Oh and here's "some numbers" from my computer too....

well you could always try and answer the original question if that's being constructive Matt....

Why can't/won't you do that ? Is it that much of a difficult question chap ?

Matt, why don't you answer the question?

Persuader, my post makes perfect sense old chap! The term limited capacity means little without quantification. If you asked Ford to make 100000 Mondeos by next week they couldn't because they wouldn't have the capacity. So even Ford has limited capacity. As does EVERY business in the world given the right context.

I would have thought someone who could afford over £150k worth of cars would be able to follow that

Wooo tigers! From Audi’s Press office I was told all orders will be fulfilled, so they will make as many as there is a demand for. As of last month there were over 450 orders in the uk for the Saloon and 300 for the avant, I would assume that order rate has increased since then. The B7 will not be a limited run like the B5. I wouldn’t have thought they would need to lie so I'm inclined to believe the team at Audi?

We can only assume that Matt works for Audi, in some capacity;has access to internal stuff that others do not; possibly that he had better not confirm/forward on to us ............ but if he told us that he had confidential business info from the inside the questions would have been answered at the outset.
In the meantime ............ his guess is as good as Riz's :|

Whichever way you look at it, the B7 RS4 is going to be a lot rarer than any of its competitors anyway. As for residuals, the RS4 will hold its value better than most if not all of its competitors; M3 et al.

And for what its worth, without going into too much detail - someone I know works for Audi UK. He suggested to me that Matt's figures are 'pretty accurate'. But he did also say that Audi will, like any business, try to fulfil everyone's orders - which will hopefully result in an increase in production. Apparently, quattro gmbh are gearing up for increased production anyway, due to additional forthcoming models, etc.

I also would say Matt`s figures are correct without going into too much detail.
