Try using a Bic type razor
bet that gives it a lovely "george michael" effect, obviously from his Wham* days.

* Wham were a popular singing duo from the '80s, if you're paying more than a grand for insurance you might need to ask your parents

Those pics have just put a big downer of how I visualised the Avant- ass is just too fat! I think px-ing new RS4 next year on new RS6 Avant is way forward.

Have had a long think about style, residuals etc. I think with the M3 looming next Apr/May, the market for the saloon may be affected. And having had a read about "real RS enthusiasts" only going for an Avant.... I think I might place my deposit for one of those instead. I don't need 414 bhp.... I'd be happy with a lovely-specked S4 Avant (which my mate is collecting this week)..... but I don't want to lose too much money with time. So can anyone advise whether to put an order down on RS4 or wait and buy my mate's S4 Avant next year (black, red leather, all heated seats, sat nav etc.)

I've chatted to the dealer and told him to transfer my deposit onto a new Avant... I'm also going to stipulate that I'm amongst the first in his dealership to receive one. Then, hopefully I might break when I come to selling it as it's definitely not for keeps. I'm really after an S4 Avant in terms of what I'm satisfied with.... unless I get into track racing one day????

Gekko, you really need to re-read your posts above....

- "B7 RS4 Avant ass is too fat" It's slender compared to the B5 RS4!!
- "px RS4 for RS6" The RS6 is even bigger!!
- "lovely-specked S4 Avant..... but I don't want to lose too much money with time" You'll probably lose more on an S4 that an RS4.
- "black, red leather, all heated seats, sat nav etc" Black (OK), Red Leather (Good luck selling it), heated seats (Standard kit), Navi (Must have).
- "hopefully I might break when I come to selling it as it's definitely not for keeps" Why bother buying one in the first place?
- "I'm really after an S4 Avant in terms of what I'm satisfied with" Why not buy one?

Been shouting out my thoughts out loud.... it's the first time I've ever considered getting anything powerful above £25k so I'm nervous. Having thought about your question.... I really loved the S4 when I test drove one 2 months ago.... I never thought about getting RS4 due to cost.... but after discussing it with others and reading threads, philosophy is that if I'm going to lose 8K on a car per year whether it's the S4 or RS4, why not experience the hottest saloon going? If it's too beastly, I can always sell it. Hence, will stick to original plan and wait for the beast in June.

Sounds like the position I was in about 5 years ago when I bought my RS4.... 27 years old and putting 50k down on a car seemed a little insane..... best thing I ever did. Still have it and love it

You've just made my day and boosted me with confidence! :D

Thanks!!!!

I'm telling you, it's been crazy! My wife's about to deliver our second child, possibly this weekend and all that's occupying my alomst every couple of minutes is "oh no, I'm gonna lose loads of money, residuals, finance deals, shall I borrow against mortgage, insurance quotes" etc. etc. My bro-in-law who is only 26 is super cool about the whole thing and he'll be selling his new RS4 when his M3 arrives in April. But that's what he's been doing ever since he bought his first BMW 318 on finance 4 years ago... since then he's had 325 Convertible and currently twazzing round in his RR Sport... waiting for his RS4 in June.

I've wasted quite a bit of cash "upgrading" to cars which I've saved up for.... bought Audi 1.8T Sport with GMBH kit 2001... £23k- sold 3 yrs later for £11.5k. Then got Audi 3.0 Quattro 18 months ago for £15k.... now I'll be lucky to get £10k for it in part-ex against the RS4. I've just be frought with thoughts of losing 8-10k annually on it.

Just saw the second TV ad with the geezer recording sound effects for the spaceship.... Wow!! Now I can't wait until June either. It's time to say "sod it" and just enjoy the bloody beast when it arrives.

I'm 30 and a GP on decent pay. 'Bout time I went crazy a bit? I'm thinking best to enjoy these cars whilst mind/eyesight/limbs working ok.... else I'll be saving until I'm 60 and I may have cataracts and arthritis by then in which case a fat Merc crusing at 30 mph will do me fine. :P

I was at my dealer today and one of the sales lads told me that he went out to Gmbh in Germany for training on the Exclusive range. He showed me pictures of some of the cars he saw and had uploaded to his computer on his desk. Just the usual pictures of Misano Red RS4 saloons with black optics pack etc.. He then suddenly said have a look at this picture on my mobile phone. There it was a Sprint Blue RS4 Avant, the rear arches are massive. He did say that all the others there with him were snapping the car with their phones but all got caught by security and were told to delete all their pictures. This picture however got out. I asked if he would let me have the picture but was told he could lose his job over it if found out. So it's definately ready and should be at Geneva next month.
