My info came straight from GmbH, and I've had my RS4 on order since about 2002.

Im still here, for all those that thought BMW Oil burning was fun. Fed up with the Aga, so popped int the local dealer to get an update on the RS4.

Seems there is no real waiting list, and if I order in October, I will get one in March, when my current tractor is due for expiry.

Am tempted - saw 2 RS4's at the Superbikes at Silverstone this weekend - they sound seriously nice (although I guess they have modded exhausts). Apparently Alan McNish said they were quicker the previous weekend around silverstone LMES than his Le Mans R8 in the wet!

Might just spent the 49k, and get back into an RS4, I know its not an Avant, not Turbocharged, nor limited, but hey, 420BHP in a 4 seater family saloon, I guess Id better get the cheque book out.

I know JR, K Sun, PhilT, Gav and crew will want a go.

I agree with Jon, mines on order and they've said all along it will be here christmas or just after. There's no waiting list, they just havent started builiding them yet. As soon as they do those on "the list" will start getting them. Simple really

You might want to re-think the "not-building" part:

So where are they going then?

They always do this - Beetles, PSPs everything. Give it to the Brits last as they will pay over the odds of what is in effect old tat by then anyway!

If my Avant is not here by March 1st 2006 it is going to the first broker who offers over list, just don't tell the dealer

If I know Audi, they will be going to the states where there is very little demand for Avants. They have pick up trucks there you know!

Fulfilling demand from the Americas is probably single handedly responsible for the long delay in the Avant model being released. I am guessing there is simply no spare capacity at Neckarsulm, and while the saloons are "flying" out of the parking lot, why should Audi pander to the strange desires of a few Brits? ;)

That picture is just the safety cars (or driver experience cars) at Hockenheim.

Part of me really hopes that quattro GmbH does do a something a little special for the minority.....
