Can't say I'm initially bowled over by the looks either on the inside or the out, first glance of the pictures and all I could think of was a lotus cartlon, perhaps the avant will appeal more. As always with these things you have to see it in the flesh being driven down the road before you can pass final judgement. Tbh, I still havent got to grips with the new style front grill yet and I've seen quite a few on the road now. As for the interior it's not that I dont like it, it's just that it isn't a dramatic enough change from the B5 model to make me think that I was in the brand new RS4 that will actually be the best part of 5yrs in development from the previous one, I think they could have put a bit more effort into making the interior styling as radically different from the rest of the B5/6/7 range as what the exterior is, and to be fair, I think they should have done the same back in 1999/2000 for the previous model. As for the guy who got paid for developing the interior styling (and his boss who signed it off) both need stringing up and shooting, as it could not have read anything more than simply-
New seats
Change steering wheel
Push-to-make button in the cigarette lighter hole to start engine
Move cigarette lighter to ashtray
Change matt trim to shiny trim around gear knob and radio
COME ON AUDI!!! this is nothing more than what ford do to tart up a Fiesta!!!!!!!
I must admit though I do like the look of the seats, especially the inflatable bits....Not so sure about the wheels, as others have commented, perhaps a little too bling for Audi.
1650kg (ish) and thats with the light weight seats!!!!... Bang goes the dreams of something a little more dainty, start specing it up with airbags, sunroofs and feul and it's still gonna be one momma.
Perhaps what is going on under the bonnet is where all the real action is, but at an indiacted 50k+, it aint gonna be cheap to find out. I would have thought a price similar to the previous model of btween 47-52k for full spec would sit about right. It is also going to be interesting to hear how many units there will be allocated for the UK.
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.
